I'm not a fan of giving pets complementary names. Not to be morbid, but eventually one of them will pass away, and then the other one's name will always remind you of the missing one. Recognizing that they're each unique individuals, I would go with unique names for both.
I also tend to prefer human names. I would go with Hilda and Igor to respect their respective heritage. Or you could switch it around and go with Nika and Wolfgang. Wolfgang would be a great name for a dog.

If it were me it wouldn't feel right to veto the kids' choice on the pet names. I'd collect a few suggestions then let them choose, as long as they don't want "Kanye" or something.

Should I ever get a dog again, it will be a Rottweiler and I will name her Brunhilda, and call her Hilda for short.

Congrats man. Dogs rule.
Chief/squaw I have a chief (poor dog). And I thought it would be cool to have a squaw. If you want to be a smart ass, Andy and Alex. But that may only be funny on CP. We had a dog set that was Sam and Suzi. That worked well together. Best I think is Bonnie and Clyde. |
