What is your stance on aliens?

I am curious to see where everyone stands on this. Asking about a stance on UFOs could be a different topic with different options so feel to give your thoughts on that as well.

Apparently they love anal probing and you'd think they'd be smart enough to stop going in the exit.
Butt maybe they visit because of the wealth of a-holes on this planet and they hover because they're choosy about who's a-hole to probe next.

You apparently don't understand what "appeal to authority" means.

To say "Aliens from other planets have visited Earth, and the proof I offer is that these smart guys said so", THAT IS AN APPEAL TO AUTHORITY. You offer no evidence. You offer no logical argument. You say it must be true because these authority figures said so.

When I quote Neil DeGrasse Tyson saying "The U in UFO stands for UNIDENTIFIED" and "Just because you can't identify what it is, that doesn't mean it's SPACE ALIENS", I am NOT saying "It's not true because Neil DeGrasse Tyson says it's not true".

I am saying "Hey, Neil DeGrasse Tyson just made a pretty good point. I find his argument to be convincing, not because Neil DeGrasse Tyson said it, but because it makes logical sense". That is NOT an appeal to authority. That is simply giving proper credit to an idea that I have heard, evaluated, and decided that I agree with.

I could just as easily have omitted any reference to Neil DeGrasse Tyson and my argument wouldn't change one iota. My argument would still be "Just because you can't identify it, that doesn't automatically mean a space alien did it". If you omit your references to high-ranking military officers and the head of the CIA, your argument completely falls apart. There is nothing left.

Do you see the difference?

Unless you see one for yourself. Then it's ok to believe.

Even if you've spent most of your life belittling and ridiculing those who've said they've witnessed one...

I was out raccoon hunting one night, and saw something that I was completely convinced was alien. Several lights moving slowly. I knew it wasn't any manmade airplane/blimp/helicopter. I witnessed something, and I was convinced it was from another planet.

Until I found out otherwise, and found out that I had mistakenly misidentified it. But up until the point I was shown the truth, I was 100% convinced it was extraterrestrial. My eyewitness account was completely wrong. It turned out to be a manmade spacecraft breaking up in the atmosphere.

Had I not found out days later about the truth, I would still to this day believe I saw something alien. Eyewitness accounts are terribly unreliable. Even your own.....

Nope, it was definitely aliens. The breaking up spacecraft story was planted by the government.

How else are they going to get close enough to capture Rain Man for anal probing?

If I ever see a light in the sky and immediately start claiming that it's definitive proof that we have been visited by aliens from another planet, feel free to belittle me and ridicule me all you want. I would deserve it.

Now if somebody were to report seeing something MORE than a light in the sky, that would be a different matter altogether. If somebody said "Hey, I saw the spaceship! I saw the aliens!", it's an entirely different conversation. Then it would be all about details and credibility, not leaping to a fantastic and far-fetched conclusion.
