You determine the reason. Whatever reason, its your reason.

You want to live at the beach? Desert? Mountains? whatever.

You want to live there for the climate, job market, culture etc.

Live there when you no have kids, when your retired etc.

It's your call and vote.

People have a bad perception of the Dakotas. North Dakota fits many of those perceptions. I think South Dakota has some beautiful spots though. It's definitely the better of the two.

Yea badlands. Black Hills area is awesome. I liked Rapid City as far as a town goes as well.

I was doing some work in that area and spent some time in Watertown, SD. I felt like I had stepped into a Norman Rockwell painting. The only thing that ruined it was the 90 mph winds blowing the garbage cans down the street.

Also, my sister and her family lived in Spearfish, SD for a while (it's near Sturgis). I guess it was pretty nice there. They also lived in Minot, ND. That wasn't so nice.

I'm simply amazed that Montana and Colorado are winning. I thought it would be California and Hawaii by a large margin

We went RVing through the state when I was a kid, and many a time in the mountains we would just pull off to a little patch off the highway and you could wake up in the morning and carry your cup to the nearby stream and scoop a cup of the nectar of the Gods.
