NFL Draft Sell me on Mike Glennon - Page 27

Right now I don't see anything about the guy that I like.

I haven't watched any more than about 2 minutes of live game footage. I've seen a bunch of highlights of his throws on youtube.

I want to like the guy. I want him to be good so people will stop bitching about how supposedly terrible this year's QB class is, but every time I watch something of his, I get turned off. He's 2nd round material at best to me that will (possibly) get taken in the top 10? Some people even have him as the top QB off the board?

That's pure insanity to me.

Tell me/show me stuff about Mike Glennon that will change my mind. I promise to withhold all preconceived notions about the guy in this thread for the purposes of trying to like him.

Based on the stuff I have watched so far, no. He's NOT better than Geno Smith, and he won't ever be. But I'm tired of shitting on him when everybody is talking him up as potentially a good pro QB.

But that was an entirely different era.

Majkowski was actually an okay QB. He threw for 4000 yards in a season a couple of times. He just wasn't franchise QB material. The fact that it took three games for Favre to start for the Packers doesn't mean he was viewed as just some Sage Rosenfels prospect.

No, that's not true -- Don Majkowski suffered a season ending injury (ankle tear) and Favre was thrust into the starting QB position, finished the season very well, of course.

correct.. Yes GB gave up a first for farve but they were apparently planning on grabbing him with their first before atlanta took him. He may have been thought about as the future during the draft but once he was taken, he was still a backup in atlanta and came to GB as a backup until Majkowski got hurt. If he was brought in to be the franchise QB he would have came over and started immediately. It's been known that holmgren wasn't to high on farve cause he was a gunslinger and holmgren wanted to try to coach him up to be more of a finesse QB, but when majkowski got hurt holmgren didn't have a choice so he thru him in and the rest in history.

I saw him play in los angeles that season. He was amazing. Of course, the Rams were

too

but the tix were comp and booze was free also. I recall a korean strip club adventure afterwards too -- close to disneyland, much better adult fun.

you got to be kidding. that was in response to SNR's question on QB trades that resulted in a championship etc. If you look closely, you'll note Elway's "Colts" card then Elway playing for the donkos.
