3. The Rams are scheduled to work in Colorado Springs, at altitude, for a week beginning Tuesday, because Mexico City is 1.3 miles above sea level. The Chiefs studied that and chose to stay in Kansas City for the week before making the 3.5-hour flight Sunday. Coach Andy Reid told me, “The elevation’s the elevation. I’m sure the Rams are gonna work at elevation. We’re not. I don’t think it becomes an issue. We did our homework on that this past offseason. It doesn’t really matter. It doesn’t matter if it’s in the parking lot of the CVS.”

Me thinks the advantage of practicing at altitude the week before has all to do with psychology and not with physiology. The body: heart, lungs, muscles will not “acclimate” in such a short time. But the brain is a funkier organ. If these Rams -think- they have an advantage by doing this, then they have an advantage, and may play better. Wise move on the coach’s part.

I have a house at 7k feet in the Mountains. I live at about 800 feet altitude full time. Now I'm not in the greatest physical shape, but it takes me about a week to feel more or less 'adjusted' - and even then, I doubt that I am fully acclimated.

That all makes perfect sense on the face of it, it honestly does

Yet how many times have the Chiefs marched into Denver and mugged them without a lick of acclimating to the altitude the last 6 years?

Its an overrated X factor, IMO
