Odorizzi making start for Tampa Bay Ray's today!

Let's hope he's a bust!

In other news:

Mike Montgomery is 0-1 with 5.84 ERA, having given up 14 hits & 9 runs in 12 innings of work . . . . .

Patrick Leonard is hitting .157 in 134 AB's with a .230 OBP, .209 SLG, & a .439 OPS . . . .

Wil Meyers hitting an even .250 with only 4 HR's and 51 K's in just 152 AB's. On the plus side, he's killing LHP with a .349 avg, 3 HR and 11 RBI in 43 AB's. The downside is he's getting equally molested by RHP hitting .211, slugging .294 and striking out 43 times in just 109 at bats.

Still REALLY early, but trade looking good so far . . . . . . .

At this point I'm more worried about Odorizzi becoming a star for the Rays than Wil Myers. Odo may not be looking very good today in his major league debut, but he's been lighting it up in the minor leagues.

That's the thing I hate about the trade: having to include Odo in it. But overall it was a trade that Dayton really had to make.

Damn we raped the Brewers on that one. Esky, Cain, then shipped Odo off for James Shields.

I would have rather kept Odorizzi, as well. But that trade isn't happening w/o him, Ventura or Zimmer in there. And between those 3, he is the one I would have sacrificed.

Reportedly, Tampa REALLY wanted Ventura but Royals said "Hell No!". If the Royals took their top 3 (assuming you count Odi in the Top 3) out of play, Tampa would have made the trade with Texas . . . .

Could you imagine Shields at the top of that Texas rotation? They'd be a nightmare for any team matching up with them in the post-season!

Then the Brewers traded Greinke for Jean Segura and raped the Angels. Segura is hitting .364/.406/.580 and leads the NL in hits and average.

That's just a hilarious trade by the Angels. Segura has been the best player in baseball this year. For 0.5 seasons of Greinke.

I was starting to say they shut Montgomery down and he turned it around in his first start back for Durham.

Then I realized he got lit up Saturday. In A+ ball.

TINSTAAPP in action. If the RAYS can't fix him...

Escobar has been pretty average this year. And as someone already pointed out, they got Segura for Greinke. Milwaukee did well getting, then giving away, Greinke.

I actually think Odorizzi is kind of a AAAA pitcher. His command and control is good enough to dominate AAA, but he doesn't have enough fastball velocity or a good enough put-away off-speed pitch to transfer those results to the majors.
