My wife is a stay at home mom while she goes to school. I keep us a float and she babysits on the side.
But I do agree her staying at home isn't ideal and we both can't wait till she graduates school. I'm in school to get my masters as well, so it's extra hard to be parents, both go to school and both work full time. So it is better to have her at home. |

Let's think about this Hootie.
Do you really want to marry a woman who is attracted to a drunk?

If you post her contact info here, we can set her up on the fat bald goateed guy in his 40s dating service. She would get plenty of junk pics I bet.

Alimony is pretty stupid unless it's an unique circumstance. This isn't the 50's, women are employable and able to make a living. One of the perks of being married to me is living the lifestyle I provide. If you choose to leave that, that's on you. I'd like to see more men flip the script when the wife brings home more coin and get alimony from her.
Also, anyone making marriage arrangements based on the best outcome for future divorce, should not get married. |

What are the arguments for alimony? I've never heard them. Why does it exist?

Obviously not anymore. I grew up in a devout LDS household from Orem Utah. My grandfather was a biology professor at BYU for the remainder of his life.
While I've left the faith, I still have a great respect for it. My mission was the best 2 years of my life. |

1950, June Cleaver stays home with Wally and the Beav. She never got an education, never had a job. Kids graduate after she's put in her 25 years at home with no real job options, Ward starts shagging his 25 year old administrative assistant and leaves her.
That's where it originated. |

Agree. When I got divorced my ex was making 2x what I was. I was laid off 10 months and went from 68k to 30k when I finally found something else. She works for DoD. I just wanted out. Maybe I should have asked for Alimony? |

No alimony in Texas for under 10 years of marriage.
Also, from what I've heard if the wife is employable then it is harder for them to get alimony here. |
