I don't think that Davis did when he moved the Raiders to LA either.

Yes, because an entire fanbase in the St. Louis area deserves to lose a NFL franchise for the actions of a locally based corporation. Great logic. |

It's really a chicken/egg thing. Stadium is empty because team sucks. Owner says team isn't making money. Owner is not hiring people who make the team un-suck. Owner wants to move over lack of support that basically is his fault. Fans have no way to effect change other than by staying away, but that is what causes the team to move.
But I'm sure that a team in LA could have the potential to earn a lot more than one playing at the twat dome in St. Louis, always being the third place sports team in that town. It's a business. |

Behind the Lakers and Dodgers for certain. If they suck enough probably behind the Kings and Clippers. |

So the league can now stop teams from moving?

Per pft
But even if Kroenke doesn’t get to 24 votes, it may not matter.* According to the source, Kroenke has informed the mayor of Inglewood on multiple occasions that he’ll move the team with or without the approval of the other clubs. That would be an aggressive, risky move.* If Kroenke moves without approval, he’d be entitled to no financial assistance from the league, and his stadium would be blocked from hosting Super Bowls.* He also would avoid paying the relocation fee. |

The state has already gifted the Rams 12m/yr In subsidies for the Dome while only giving Truman Complex 1/4 of that. No way should they get an even bigger gift from the state taxpayers

One thing needs to be made clear in terms of the Los Angeles Rams: The city's fandom isn't what made them leave LA or Orange County, it was the owner. She moved the team from the sold out Coliseum to Anaheim, which can be anywhere from 50 mintues to 2 hours from Los Angeles. It all depends on traffic. But that said, the Rams and their fans were strong in the 80's and they had some really great teams and players, especially Eric Dickerson. Then, she moved the team, again, to Missouri. The fans and people of Los Angeles and Anaheim should not be blamed for a flakey owner seeking to make more money. |

The man is worth $5.8 billion dollars. He knows that if he builds the "right" stadium, not only will it host his NFL team but World Cup Soccer, concerts and so on, with all of the proceeds going right back into his pocket. It's a win-win for him, regardless of NFL approval. And the idea that the NFL would pass up a Super Bowl in a state of the art stadium a few miles from the Pacific Ocean? |

One of these times I'm going to do a thread on the 1993 NFL expansion. It would make one hell of a 30 for 30 on ESPN.
Just put it this way, 11 franchises were directly affected by this (actually more with the threat of moving to Los Angeles): Carolina Jacksonville New England St. Louis Oakland Baltimore Cleveland Tennessee Houston Seattle Tampa Bay |
