What?

Stanzi was undefeated when he got hurt (and ranked top 5 iirc) and the team won 1 of 3 games with him out...he came back and what happened?

The team win again.

The team probably doesn't lose a game that year if he doesn't go down and we end with a top 5 ranking and a chance at a national championship.

That was hardly the case. Cassel's throw to Baldwin was way better than the fade pass.

Cassel sucks
I think most have stated that it was a good pass and that Baldwin/Bowe would have come down inbounds with it. The pass was caught, inexperienced WR couldn't get his feet down inbounds.

Listen I know where you stand on him and you know where I stand. I know what you see in him and you know what I see in him. Only time will tell which one of us is right. I just don't see how pinning hopes on a 5th round QB out of Iowa with one year in his college career over 3,000 yards with his career mental mistakes is a smart bet.

You are the worst of the "reads too much into the stat line" bunch.

Cassel went 5/6 with a TD. Still, the majority of his passes, all but one or two, were under 10 yd safe passes AND he had actual NFL talent to work with. Color me unimpressed.

Quinn was basically the mirror image of that, except two balls I believe. The one to the endzone should have been an INT if you ask me, and the one to Maneri was a good ball. He had one ball dropped also. Overall more of the same.

Stanzi attempted MAYBE two pass shorter than 10yds. His pass in the endzone should have been 6, the ball to the sideline should have been caught. The first deep ball was only off a little bit and can be attributed to timing issues with all the different QB's he has to play with as much as anything.

The thing nobody talks about is that Cassel is the only guy who gets to play with the same receivers day in and day out. Hell, they don't even let the 2nd string QB throw to the 1st stringers occasionally. It's seldom you hear that Boss, Moeaki, Breaston or Baldwin was on the field with Quinn or Stanzi. In fact, I think the only guy I've heard mentioned being on the field the same time as either guy in camp is Dex.

You act like he should be putting up the same ridiculous numbers as all the spread monkeys. Cassels only gone over 3,000 twice and he needed 15 games.

Anyway, it's not like any of us Stanzi guys are against drafting a 1st round QB. Actually, the opposite. If the team doesn't draft one this year then I will really be at a loss of words. Can't think of a single other position that needs upgraded more. Just watch, we'll trade out of the first round. Pioli will think it's cute and Belichikian...

I don't give a damn about stats in a preseason game. Stanzi looked bad. As to why, you can make all the bullshit excuses you want. They're still just going to be bullshit excuses.

Here is what I'm factoring into my optimism here.

Let's say Stanzi throws THOSE EXACT 7 PASSES he threw to scrubs and instead they go to Dwayne Bowe, Jon Baldwin and Steve Breaston?

The plays these guys don't make, the starters do.

How much would that effect his stat line?

God damn.

I like Ricky Stanzi. Really do.

But every ****ing thread turns into a Stanzi-fest.

And if there's ever a game to not talk about Stanzi it's probably this one.

Because Cassel played well.

It's sickening.

Over-analyzing Stanzi has become the theme.

I don't think Cassel is a good QB by any means, but the sad fact is, he's the best QB on this roster. That's just how bad the QB competition is here, or lack thereof. People have become so accustomed to bashing Cassel that not only will they not give him credit when it's rightfully due, but they will root for anyone who's not Matt Cassel, even if it means rooting for a replacement who's not anywhere close to being ready to start in the NFL. They're the same god damn people who hitched themselves to the Brodie Croyle wagon. This team's lack of ability to address a real franchise QB has completely stupefied it's own fanbase in thinking Scott Pioli pulled another rabbit out of the hat with a late round gem for a QB. Tom Brady is a once in a generation lucky draft pick. "The Patriot Way" doesn't work for shit without Tom Brady.

Stanzi won't amount to shit in the NFL. He'll last longer than Croyle because Croyle is made of glass, but they're the same QB and have no business ever starting in this league.
