One of Bob Dole's drinking buddies runs the 911 operation here. Never ending supply of funny/stupid stories.

I read these stories and laugh at how idiotic people can be but I was one of them once upon a time.

I literally called 911 at like 5 am because I was downtown and couldn't find the parking garage I parked my car in

Not my proudest moment..

Did they send a patrol car to drive you around town to hit the lock button on your fob until you heard the horn?

Hell no. Those assholes ignored me.. as they should have LOL

It was NBA All-Star weekend in Orlando at that time. I'm sure they were getting all kinds of calls.

I ended up stumbling upon my car shortly thereafter.

. I figured as much but I did have this fleeting vision of some random guy hanging from a squad window with his keys in hand yelling "I don't hear it!"

Oh I'm sure. Another great source is any ER. I dated an ER nurse for a couple of years back in the day and some of those stories blew my mind.

Anybody that has done tech support or customer service knows that people are dumb/crazy.

I am a DBA and some of the things our clients do are just nutty.

It's been a few years now that I have worked as a dispatcher for an area police department. It's truly amazing the nature of calls we get and the things people think the police should respond to. Every single day I work it's something different and amazing. So many stories and funny calls and photos. Wish I could share more on here but can't for obvious reasons but I can speak generally about the experience.

I would reccomend people do ride alongs with their community PD. It's a decent learning experience and depending on what's going on can be fun.

Or a public defender. i was a public defender for about 7 years. I still hear stupid stuff. One client tried to tell me that the court did not have jurisdiction because of maritime law (law on the high seas). I told him that the case happened on land so no maritime jurisdiction. He told me that he had been in water while in utero and then came out the birth canal so maritime law applied. I declined to take his case.
