Study 'Conservatively' Determines USA Home to 16 Million Illegal Immigrants

.. but estimates there are actually 22 million currently in the country; double the amount widely accepted as accurate.

But I still believe there are Americans who will do these jobs, they just won't do them for what they are paying these days. Hell, I am one of them.
That's some baby boomer logic right there. Unfortunately, my dad was no exception.

Here he is, a successful, driven, dedicated man with an impeccable work ethic, all made possible by his rough childhood with few luxuries and no-nonsense parents, and he wants to protect me from that?

Never could get him to connect those dots.

Never could get him to connect those dots.

When my parents came through the depression (intact) they then had to deal with WWII. They both had little growing up and even less during the depression. Matter of fact, my Mother used to tell the story of a family down the street who starved to death because they were too proud to ask their neighbors for a handout.

After the war, my parents married and had us (2 boys and 2 girls). My Father always told us that he wanted us to have it better than HE did growing up and he worked himself to death to insure that we had OPPORTUNITIES. Other than that - it was up to us.

Granted, we didn't have video games, cell phones or any of the other distractions that kids have today. We all began working at an early age (me? 13) I never asked Mom and Dad for a thing. If I need new shoes for school - I bought them. That's called "initiative".

Parents are supposed to "lead by example" - however, today, with (usually) both parents being controlled by careers - kids are sometimes left behind. Or, as the old adage states: "You reap what you sow". Welcome to 21st Century America.
