I have nothing to add that hasn't already been said except that it is no surprise that an episode that intense, that good, was directed by Rian Johnson, who also directed perhaps one of the only BB episodes better than this one: season 3's "Fly."

One of the more difficult aspects of being a teacher is letting students float their stupid ideas without crushing them.

One of my students today, who is a fan of the show, was telling me that Walt's coming back with the machine gun to get Skyler because "he warned her over the phone not to cross him." I tried to explain to him what I perceived Walt's motivation to be for his behavior over the phone, but the student insisted that Walt was playing it straight and truly threatening Skyler over the phone.

On "Talking Bad", Dean Norris was pretty much baffled by the fact that "Team Walter" even exists at this point.

He showed some true humanity after what happened to Hank. He was devastated. The shit he's done finally hit his family.

So then he lashes out at what was at one time basically his surrogate son, to hurt him as much as possible, because he can't kill him himself. Telling Jesse that, after he'd already condemned him to torture and death, is just about the most evil thing I can think of.

In the end, what mattered to Walt wasn't family or even the money. It was control: over people, over expectation, and over his own narrative. He won't accept an honest outcome because he's been dishonest about everything from the very start.

Not to mention the still shot of hank dead as they drag him away to foreshadow Walt looking face down in the dirt motionless.

Did you catch Walt rolling by his pants from the pilot episode. Very clever.

Also, I don't know why it hadn't dawned on me until they had that long back and forth about baby names and that they named her Holly, another plant that is used commonly for decoration and it's berries are also toxic / poisonous.

Last funny little thing I noticed watching it the 2nd time with my girlfriend-

That 1st scene when Walt's on the phone with Skyler in the flashback- look at Jesse in the background. He's doing the star wars kid in the garage light saber fight! Reenacting the YouTube video kids moves!

Actually good call, only truly honest one surface to core, and Hank doesn't come close with his actions at the start of the story, his blind obsession, and turning a blind eye to his wife's own criminal behavior, though petty by contrast, it did end up getting her pregnant sister detained and almost arrested and charged for what would be Felony theft based on the value or low end possession of stolen property.

I believe that the show postulates that line would be between death and becoming gravely ill. The former frowned upon, the latter towing that ever so razor thin edge of the acceptable portion of said line.

I hope you deducted all of his daily points and urged the school counselor to have him already repeat the same grade next year even if schools only been back in for a couple of weeks.
