Passan just said it was official. 2 years, $12 million.
Definitely will add more power to the lineup. He's got legit 30 HR power. He'll probably play a lot since he's left handed. We're going to strike out a lot more than we're used to... but this lineup has the potential to have legit power up and down the line. |

That's a solid deal for Moss.
I probably would have preferred Alvarez, but they're very similar players and would be deployed similarly. Moss does have a little more defensive versatility - he's a solid 1B and can passably play a corner OF spot. He hasn't been quite the same since his hip injury in 2014 (midseason), but he could be a nice fit hitting 6th or 7th in KC's lineup. Random thought on the lineup with Moss: I'd flip up the order, since Ned is so obsessed with balance. Gordon Soler Hosmer Cain Moustakas Perez Moss Merrifield Escobar

Another thought about the deal.. It looks like the Jays bit way too quickly on Kendrys.

I'd bet on:
Merrifield Moustakas Cain Hosmer Soler Gordon Perez Moss Escobar You alternate all the way down. And you have a couple guys in the bottom third that can take you out of the yard. You have legit power 2-8. |

I'd agree with that, though I wouldn't be surprised if he switched Moss and Gordo to start the year and occasionally flirted with putting Esky at leadoff (#justnedthings)

The Royals needed another left handed bat on roster. It is interesting that Moss hits a little better against LHP for average, but he really hits his home runs against RHP.
Good signing for KC. I think he will be a nice addition to the Kansas City Royals. |

I like the signing and I like the price. Nice work getting some legit power to put into the lineup. As long as esky is 9 hitter I don't care what the lineup looks like.

Chiming in with two potential lineups
My ideal lineup: Gordo Cutty (his offensive ceiling is much higher than Cool Whit's and is worth the gamble at 2B) Moose Cain Hos Soler Moss Salvy Esky My predicted lineup from Ned: Whit/Cutty Moose Cain Hos Salvy Moss Soler Gordo Esky Last edited by Chiefspants; 01-29-2017 at 03:44 PM.. |

We got Brandon Moss? Wow. He was one of my top 3 feared opponents against us, that wildcard game was my first big Royals game I've ever watched really, and didn't he homer against us again in 2015?

...Continued thoughts on the Moss deal; I love the idea of starting off the lineup with relatively patient guys like Gordo and Cutty. Another aspect about the Moss deal that excites me is that this gives us a key guy in the lineup who will drive up pitch counts and force walks like Zo did in 2015, Zo gave our lineup a balance that we were seriously lacking in 2016, and Moss has the skillset to function in a similar capacity.

Any chance he is coming in as a DH that can roll out to the outfield of 1st if someone needs a day off?

Christ. I just texted the news to my buddy who responded:
"I hope they aren't planning on losing/trading Hosmer." |
