They're softening her character and letting Stana's hotness ooze through more and more. Makes sense. If you want to build romantic chemistry and tension between two leads, you need to make both leads attractive and likable not only to each other but to the audience. You know a show's firing on all cylindars when you can know exactly what's going to happen (Roy was telegraphed a long time ago, both of the things tonight) and it's still a great episode.

I actually thought the end was a little overboard. They don't need shock value at this point. But I guess that was the only way to get it out of him.
