Chiefs How would YOU try to improve the defense? - Page 3

Amid all the hysteria over our two wins and offensive performances, I'm just wondering what can realistically be done to improve the defense? Now we know Berry will hopefully be returning soon which should be massive, but with the way this offense is looking, just a slight improvement on defense could take us to the promise land yall. So does Veach sit, be patient and hope Berry is enough to improve things? Should he get on the phone and beg Breeland to join the kingdom? Or should he seek to make a trade of some sort?

I think I'd probably go with trying to get Breeland in and with Berry added to the mix I think the unit would be vastly improved.

...Breeland...Berry...Parker...Fuller...

With Nelson In the slot. Surely that would be enough?

Yeah because that's all we'll do, give up TDs every single blitz. Yep. It'll never result in a sack, a forced pick, nothing good. Ever.

How many sacks do we have over the past 18 games? Our players suck, our blitzes don't work. They get picked up and they give up big plays.

some of you have said it already, but-

1) Send a minimum of 4 at all times. I'd like to attack gaps more and less head-up read-and-react crap. More one gap looks and stunts. Attack, attack, attack. Shoot those gaps, disrupt the play. Bring that 4th from different places; outside and inside backers. Switch it up. If you happen across a runner with the ball on your way to the QB, tackle him. You, as a defense, force the offense to deal with you, rather than sitting back and seeing what they want to do. Bury the 2-3-6. Make it a rare occasion that you don't send 4 or 5; so that when you do, it's a surprise rather than the usual. You'll give up some big plays, but you'll also get some 3-and-outs and TO's. At any rate, it's better to get beat quick than get worn out.

2)In obvious passing situations, I want to see Jones and Speaks at DE. Kpass/Ford at one OLB, Houston at the other. Hitchens as your nickel backer, mixed with O'Daniel. Time to learn, kiddo.

3)It's time for Watts. He'll make mistakes, but Murray is awful.

At the very least, you'll make opposing QB's uncomfortable, get rushed throws and some INT's.

That was a very small sample size greatly helped by PIT shooting themselves in the foot. I sure would like to see actual footage of the penalty taking away the TD though. Scandrick didn't seem too upset though. Seemed like he knew it was the right call.

except that's not true. Literally every stop we got today was rushing more than 3. One sack, but a lot of pressures and rushed throws.

LOL, well we could go around in circles on this subject. We do not blitz enough, but obviously I'm not saying it would fix everything. Nothing would -- WE SUCK.

This is a minimum 2 full offseason rebuild, and that's if we dedicate a lot to it (which I'm assuming we will...not many holes on offense). We need literally two starting DL, 2 rushers and an entire secondary. Literally 4 goddamn starters.
