How would YOU try to improve the defense?

Amid all the hysteria over our two wins and offensive performances, I'm just wondering what can realistically be done to improve the defense? Now we know Berry will hopefully be returning soon which should be massive, but with the way this offense is looking, just a slight improvement on defense could take us to the promise land yall. So does Veach sit, be patient and hope Berry is enough to improve things? Should he get on the phone and beg Breeland to join the kingdom? Or should he seek to make a trade of some sort?

I think I'd probably go with trying to get Breeland in and with Berry added to the mix I think the unit would be vastly improved.

...Breeland...Berry...Parker...Fuller...

With Nelson In the slot. Surely that would be enough?

1) Kindly tell Eric Berry that we respect him as a man but he needs to get his ass on the field.

2) Play Armani Watts over Eric Murray

3) Stop running 3-man rush, zone defense

4) Stop asking un-athletic pass-rushers like Tanoh Kpassignon to cover Wide Receivers

5) Stop giving 10-15 yard cushions on 3rd and 6

6) Mix up zone blitz packages

7) Actually attempt a DL stunt

8) Actually attempt more than 3-4 safety or corner blitzes per game

9) Go out and sign someone...ANYONE...to replace Orlando Scandrick

10) Fire Bob Sutton

I also don't know how to feel about this... Veach gave Sutton a few thumpers in order to play bigger. We scaled back on DBs to do that. Yet, it seems like we still want to run a shitload of nickel & dime.

I'm still surprised Reid is sticking with Sutton. We are literally seeing a growing trend of Jim Johnson like defenses. You'd think he of all people would love the idea.
I never understood the strategy of getting all those "thumpers". It's not 1995. Of course teams are going to see those "thumpers" and pass the shit out of the ball. Especially since they know we can score at will.

We should have been heavy on getting corners, safeties, and pass rushers that don't run 5 second 40s. Everytime I see Speaks, I think Veach might not know what he's doing.

Not trading away an All-Pro CB because he doesn't care about America's theme song would be a nice start but I guess that train has already left the station.

Yeah I'd be willing to trade a 3rd for a decent corner. A 2nd for a good one. I wish there were as many midseason trades in the NFL as there are in nba/nfl.

Call the Arizona Cardinals and ask what it would take to acquire Patrick Peterson.

If they're going to keep old wrinkly dick and his soft D, better find a cover guy.

1. Be more aggressive. The 3 man rush is good to mix in from time to time but we shouldn't be seeing it as frequently as we do. We're just incapable of generating pressure from a 3-man front.

2. Ditch the prevent defense until the final (or penultimate) defensive series.

3. Get KPass some work on the DL in obvious pass rushing situations. I'd probably try to slide Speaks inside as well because the dude is just not a good edge rusher at the moment.

4. Rotate Smith and Watts. We know Murray and Scandrick are garbage. Nelson is maxed out as a C player at best. Maybe one of the young guys can come on hot and save this secondary by January.

5. Keep my fingers crossed that Berry is the same guy we saw in 2016.

1. Push Sutton's wheelchair into traffic. Addition by subtraction.
2. Bring in Patches O'Houlahan and throw wrenches at the defense. Won't make them better, but they deserve to be hit by wrenches.

Nothing to be done, really. The personnel on defense has decayed to the point where there is very little talent on that side of the ball. We should have gutted the defense and started rebuilding a couple of years ago. You can't fix it midseason.

Yeah, because attacking Dave Toub, choking his mom in front of NFL Security, and threatening to kill the team bus driver had nothing to do with it.

It's all 'cuz dey be raysussed and stuff'.

You ignorant ****ing rube.

Berry and a shit ton more blitzing. It'll fail a lot, but at least it'll fail quickly; and more importantly, it'll at least get a FEW more stops, which we need to even out the amount of plays.

And it'll still be bad because we're bad, but less bad, and - again - it'll importantly even TOP, and keep them OFF the field.
