TMZ: Rape accuser attempted to extort Winston

Here's the latest of the rape allegations against Jameis Winston:

Per a report by TMZ.com on Wednesday morning, the individual who accused Florida State redshirt sophomore quarterback Jameis Winston of rape attempted to extort 7 million dollars from the quarterback.

Here is the report from TMZ:
Jameis Winston's lawyer has fired off a letter to Florida State University ... claiming the woman who accused his client of rape demanded $7 MILLION to buy her silence.

David Cornwell, the lawyer for the Heisman Trophy winner, sent a letter to FSU, saying Winston will fully cooperate with the University's ongoing investigation into the handling of the rape charges. The alleged victim claims the University engaged in sexual discrimination by sweeping her claims under the rug to protect its prized athlete.

According to the letter -- obtained by TMZ -- the alleged victim's lawyer, Patricia Carroll, demanded $7 MIL to settle her client's claims against FSU and Winston, telling Cornwell, "If we settle, you will never hear from my client or me again -- in the press or anywhere."

Cornwell says he rejected her offer and 4 days later she went to the media.

Cornwell also says Carroll claimed her client's sexual encounter had to be rape, because she would never sleep with a "black boy."

Cornwell also added in the letter that his client, Winston, will fully cooperate in the Title IX investigation but "will not walk into a honey trap. The Investigation must be a legitimate investigation."

Zilla, I just asked someone about Todd Gurley and he is being investigated at this point. So it is not known if he was making money on those signatures. According to Jimbo Fisher Jameis was not making money signing those autographs.

I don't even know if FSU is guilty. But they did choose to not file a report with Title IX. That claim might have some legs if it's true that the accuser refused to cooperate. Like I said, it's a "he said, she said" where her credibility is pretty shady. So no, I don't at all know where you're getting that I think everyone is guilty.

The party I do think is guilty is the Tallahassee police. But nobody's going to get suspended for that.
I was referring to more than Jameis or FSU's guilt here, but your assumptions to where I stood myself in particular combined with how you were on the Zimmerman issue. Now this autograph situation.

Winston's autographs are authenticated as coming from the same person who handled Gurley's autographs. They have to prove somebody got paid for it. But it's more than just a "we found some autographs on eBay."

Well, I only have an oral report from someone who has kept up on this and it is yet to be a fact for either of them.

I'm not going to bring up political matters on a college football forum. That's a separate topic if you want to bring it back up in DC.

I don't see anything wrong about the facts as I've stated them. NY Times had a good article about the curious handling of matters involving FSU players by Tallahassee police. There are several excellent responses to the FSU timeline, one by the Washington Post that questions why they never followed through with the Title IX inquiry and one by Fox Report which lays heavier allegations about how FSU handled the matter suspiciously.

And on the autograph front, there is a definite linkage between Winston's autographs and the group that handled Gurley's. There is no smoking gun. But there is a connection to the guy who smoked out Gurley.

I said that these things mean it's been a real bad week for FSU. Even if they are found innocent of all these things. I don't have an opinion right now until I see proof of what actually happened. I just hope the investigation is handled fairly, knowing the way the NCAA comically handled the Oregon and Miami investigations.

No, not doing that. It was about you regarding the media and my posts.

As for the rest it's still an allegation at this point.

Jimbo Fisher has acknowledged that the autograph authentication company that smoked out Gurley has been linked to 340 of Winston's autographs. That sounds like an admission of fact.

There is no proof Winston took payment for them. Which is why I haven't said he's guilty.

It's not that they sign anything it's if he gets PAID for it!

BEP, do you really think Winston took the time to sign over 300 items for someone whose sole intent is to sell these items for profit and Winston signed these items for free?

They may not be able to prove that he took payment, but only a naive person would believe he signed those items for nothing.

I have 3 posts where I said Winston has not been proven guilty of anything. I have not in any way said Winston is guilty of anything.

I am responding to your post where you sounded like the connection between Winston's autographs and Gurley's authentication group was not a fact. It is a fact. Again, that doesn't mean he was paid for them. I have stated that three times. It will be investigated and it should be. Until the results of the investigation come out, I'm not going to say he's guilty or not guilty.

I don't think it looks good but I don't know until it's investigated. Also, Lone Wolf I was told Jameis signs a lot of stuff for people. He denies it at this point. He also plays better surrounded by controversy.

Lemme ask you guys a question:

What about these commercial autograph dealers even approaching college athletes for signatures? Shouldn't they be stopped because they get student athlete's in trouble? Or can they not be stopped?

If they get the signatures, any money made of the item should belong to the university where the student attends. It's like working for somebody. If you invent or create something while working for someone else they get the money ( and the credit pretty much).

Not really, because as far as I know there is no governing body that sets rules that the commercial autograph dealers have to follow. I sure as hell don't want the government to be involved in something as petty as this.

There IS a governing body that determines the eligibility of Jameis Winston, and it's his responsibility to follow the rules.
