Excerpt: Taxes on some wealthy French top 100 pct of income

PARIS | Sat May 18, 2013

(Reuters) - More than 8,000 French households' tax bills topped 100 percent of their income last year, the business newspaper Les Echos reported on Saturday, citing Finance Ministry data.

President Francois Hollande's Socialist government imposed the tax surcharge last year, shortly after taking office, to offset the impact of a rebate scheme created by its conservative predecessor to cap an individual's overall taxation at 50 percent of income.

Article comments makes me laugh:

I wonder how this action is going to STIMULATE the french Economy?

In an article from 1965 entitled “Problems Facing Our Socialism,” Barack Obama’s father stated:

Theoretically, there is nothing that can stop the government from taxing 100% of income so long as the people get benefits from the government commensurate with their income which is taxed. . . It is a fallacy to say there is a limit (to tax rates), and it is a fallacy to rely mainly on individual free enterprise to get the savings.

Sure thing Barry. Other than a few brain dead zombie's, there's not many people that still buy into your bullshit.

I read a rather-scary article during the campaign last year that said high unemployment was actually HELPING Obama because more people were scared out of their wits (or subsisting on government cheese) that they viewed Obama as more likely to help them if and when they lost their jobs. Romney was a reminder of their job angst.

It's a rather sad day when Obama is seen as your savior but sadly that is where we are today in America.

There's probably something to this... And I'm pretty left of center. When I was younger and a little more idealistic (still thought it was possible for me to have the American dream) I would have looked at Romney and thought his success was inspiring.

Now I find very few successful people inspiring. Mostly what I see is rich assholes, who's success has come at the expense of society, and who continue to use their abundant resources to leverage even more out of the system for themselves.
