In Blow to Democrats, #WalkAway Movement Gaining Steam

https://bigleaguepolitics.com/in-blo...gaining-steam/

Published 4 days ago on Jun 26, 2018 By Peter D'Abrosca

Recently, a hashtag encouraging voters to reject the Democrat party has surfaced and picked up steam online.

#WalkAway and its variants #WalkAwayMovement and #WalkAwayCampaign are making waves on social media giant Twitter, showing that some Americans have had enough of the shenanigans from the left. Many have referenced Rep. Maxine Waters’ (D-CA) encouragement of Democrats to harass President Donald J. Trump and his supporters.

“#WalkAway it’s difficult to walk away from something you have been since you were able to vote,” wrote Twitter user Deon Joseph. “But this is not the Democratic Party I knew. I’m starting to take those steps. Seeing Maxine Waters call for the harassment of people for something she ignored was the last straw.”

“I’m choosing to #WalkAway because I don’t want to see another civil war happen in my country, but sadly that’s what the Democratic Party and MSM seem to be pushing us towards,” said Julia Lee.

“My #WalkAway moment came when an unknown named #Obama beat #Hillary and then her and hubby became his best buds!” said Sandra Battaglia. “Something seriously wrong here! The insidious progression of Anti-American policies . Enter #Trump like a breath of fresh air and we electing him as #POTUS#QAnon”

Even prominent Republican actor James Woods got in on the action.

“I was a registered Democrat for the greater portion of my voting life,” he tweeted. “The #Clintons cinched it for me. I was an #Independent through the Bush years. Obama was an eight year blank. The hatred and violence the @Democrats now promote convince me I was right to #WalkAway…”

I don't think taking the power out of the hands of the people would be an example of good democracy.

I think gerrymandering is regrettable, but if there were obviously better options that both sides could be happy with, we'd have adopted them by now.

Uh your party started it and we went along because of future benefits to us. Very much like the Harry Reid dumbass move of removing the filibuster that now is literally giving your party a political anal reaming of massive proportions especially with this SC pick.

Nancy and Chuck are bent over yelling "May we have another, Sir Trump" !!

Here let help you a little here, I think there was a small dust up back east if I remember right between the Arian Nationalists/Skinheads and Antifa. I do not support the Arian brotherhood whatsoever, but do we see the Arians in the news day after day like Antifa? No we don't and because your posse rules the airwaves IF the Arians were as active I damn guarantee that is all you would see on TV.

Your posse is just being the good little Alinsky soldiers they are and it is to provoke at all times and violence is approved because "the ends justify the means" in your Marxist worldview.

Charlottesville was what I was referring to. So I already gave you that one like I said. What is your definition of right extremism and where are the numerous amounts of violent conservatives on display that rival your Alinsky soldiers ??

Hey Sparky whether you realize it or not the Russia investigation is unraveling because there "ain't no evidence" because if it wasn't unraveling more and more hard evidence would have been rolling out long ago. Ever study Watergate ? That's how it works. And btw Watergate is tea party compared to what Hillary and Barry have done. It's just a matter of how hard the GOP wants to go after them now and like many here I have my doubts because the majority of them are cowards except for guys like Nunes,Gowdy and Jordan and the rest of the Freedom Caucus.

I completely understand the effects of gerrymandering and recognize both sides are guilty of it.

Are you saying if the Dems can't take the house or Senate back that will be the reason?

I'm not saying this walkaway thing is even a thing. It will be very disappointing though for Democrats not to win back one or both houses of congress considering how negatively Trump is being carried in the MSM. If they don't take one Trump's chances of being re-elected go way up.

The only power being lost is the power to rig future elections in your party's favor using analytics and computer algorithms. That's not democracy, Pat.

The problem is that if one side decides to take the high road on gerrymandering the way California recently did, they are putting their party at a disadvantage on the national stage. That is why it's somewhat understandable (but as you said, regrettable) that states are doing this. I don't think the answer is as simple as "ending gerrymandering," because for a lot of reasons it's not quite that simple. But I think we should all be looking at bipartisan / independant solutions to the extent that they exist rather than accepting the status quo.

So the liberals are now screaming popular vote AND gerrymandering?

That is like getting your ass kicked in football 28-0 but pointing out you had time of possession and 3 more yards of special teams yardage.

Yea no chance they are losing elections because their message sucks I guess.

I think the Democrats are almost certainly going to win the popular vote in the House. It's difficult to predict how that will translate to actual election results because of the power of gerrymandering that is illustrated in that post.

Gerrymandering doesn't apply to the Senate, but there are far fewer Senate races and one or two toss up elections could easily decide which side has the majority.

Absolutely. If the Democrats can't win back at least one chamber of Congress it would be a disaster. It's hard to know how it would affect Trump's re-election chances, though. If the Republicans have full control of the government for 4 years, there could be a backlash in 2020. That could be even likelier if the Dems are able to control congress and stall his agenda similar to the way Republicans did under Obama. There's a ton of variables at play. But yeah, the Democrats can't afford to underperform in the midterms. The problem is that they normally do. It'll be interesting to see how galvanizng the anti-Trump vote is this November.
