I used to smoke in high school, when I was 17 I saw my dad on his deathbed just craving a cigarette. I vowed to never touch em again. The apartment complex I just moved into you can't walk 4 feet out the door without smelling smoke

Quit smoking 1 month ago after 27 years. And drinking cokes. Hardest thing ever!!! But I replaced it with working out. Since then I have lost 10 pounds, my systolic BP dropped from the 150s to around 115, and my heart rate dropped to around 60 from upper 80s. In addition, my O2 Sat was sitting around 94% resting is now around 98%. I feel amazing, and sleep better than ever. That chronic smokers cough is gone. And now my sex drive is that of a 20 year old. So far it's been a success, but still a long way to go. Just hope I haven't done any permanent damage that hasn't shown up yet.

I'm not kidding, quitting sugar is every bit as hard as quitting cigs. I have only been successful in spurts, but I sure wish there was a patch.

The power of the addiction is most evident to me in sports bars. I see people come there to watch their team, and then they miss part of the game because they're standing outside in a snowstorm smoking cigarettes.

Good luck to you in breaking the habit. I'm glad I don't smoke if the allure is anything as powerful as soda. I struggle with my soda habit and am scared of getting diabetes some day.
