Back when I joined ChiefsPlanet, new users could pretty much register, confirm their email address, and immediately start posting. That meant that we often got a lot of n00bs during game weeks from opposing fans, for example, because they wanted to jump in and talk about the game.

At some point maybe 3-5 years ago, a change was made in an attempt to keep out recently-banned users and porn spammers that required every new user to be manually approved by a mod before they'd be allowed to post. In concept, this makes a lot of sense. In reality, though, it resulted in large delays between registration and being able to post that ranged from a few hours to more than a week (depending on how often the mods checked the queue and went through everyone).

As an experiment, starting today we're going back to the old approach. It may not last, but we want to see if we see an uptick in n00b participation. Hopefully it's a change for the better, but we'll see.

Related to that, though, the mods won't be able to keep the "bad guys" from getting into the Planet in the first place, so please use the report function to report anything we should take a close look at. In addition, if you have infraction powers and someone starts spamming porn all over the place, feel free to infract the hell out of them until the mods can get in and take care of it.

No promises it'll stay this way, but we figured we'd give it a try.

Have you ever been to prison? You are really going to equate that to being banned from a message board?

Do you really want to blow this opportunity over a personal beef with a handful of people?

Are you really interested in coming back? Or are you just here to settle a score?

The falsely accused can choose to be the bigger person ... but they don't have to. I'm opening a dialogue. All of the people who choose to troll me with misinformation will be properly informed and I do not apologize for my stance.

I'm not arguing that you're lucky, Hoots. You got screwed over, and I have been on your side since I understood the full extent of the story.

However, the mods have drawn a clear line in the sand here, if you want to stay (which I understand if you don't), you'll have to roll with their terms.

The prison analogy worked, though!

I live in Illinois, no one here cares about the Royals ... I was banned a day before the WS by a ****ing moron because he knew it was my only outlet to talk Royals baseball and that I loved doing it.

...and nobody said, "hey, uh, what?"

So I was permabanned for over a year. For doing nothing. And Timbone, a new moderator, was part of that group and was part of the people who did nothing.

So excuse me if I'm a bit bitter about already having a different set of rules than everyone else. I'm over it, I'll continue to break zero forum rules, and whatever happens, happens.

Which is pretty ridiculous. I have 1 moderator who just admitted my entire ban was bullshit ... but I'm being told to just deal with it.

Fine. Whatever.

You don't have to apologize for being bitter. I don't blame you for it. I think I've made that clear. As far as TimBone and rest of the group, there's nothing a non-moderator can do to undo a moderator action.

How about this. Since I'm already operating under a different set of rules. Each user has 1 warning about mentioning fanduel in regards to me. Once they are warned about it, if they are repeat offenders, they are permabanned for good and that's that!
