Megatron...

6'5" 239
4.35 40-Split
2.53 20-Split
1.52 10-Split
42.5" Vertical Jump
11'7" Broad Jump
41 Wonderlic
Ran outstanding routes

THC... err DGB...

6'5" 237
4.49 40-Split
2.66 20-Split
1.60 10-Split
33.5" Vertical Jump
9'11" Broad Jump
?? Wonderlic... I doubt its a 41, maybe a 14.
Ran below average routes

Green-Beckham is a lesser athlete than Jon Baldwin, that is certain.

And that's without the questionable behavior off the field.
Wow. We agree on something. DGB is a stupid pick at 18. Too much risk. Is his behavior going to get better with a ton of cash? And the reward is not high enough either with his performance and fit in our system.

The Calvin Johnson comparisons are silly. DGB is nowhere near the athlete that Calvin is.

DGB isn't a particularly explosive athlete. He's much more Marques Colston or Malcolm Floyd than he is Calvin Johnson.

My final statement on DGB:

I don't think he's a system fit.

I don't think his talent level is adequate enough to warrant consideration given all of his red flags.

He has nowhere near the athleticism of Randy Moss nor Calvin Johnson, and I cringe every time I hear the comparisons.

Let me be clear on some traits and why I think some of these things.

He runs piss poor routes and never really ran the route tree, a poor combination. It would be good if one or the other happened. The NFL has big corners that can run really fast, getting by on size and a bit of long speed isn't going to necessarily be possible in the NFL.

Green-Beckham had a great 3-cone drill at 6.89. Dwayne Bowe ran a 6.81. That doesn't always show up on the football field. I don't see that on the field with Green-Beckham the same way as I didn't see it with Bowe. I don't see separation ability.

I don't have a problem with weed. I have a problem with a football player thinking that smoking weed on a regular basis doesn't affect him. I wouldn't want a football player on my team smoking it, or smoking anything.

Based on Reid's history, I have a hard time envisioning DGB as the type of player he'd want but maybe he's open to it. He did have Terrell Owens once upon a time and TO was mostly a big target you had to force balls to. The difference is, McNabb was the QB then and Smith is the QB now.

That being said, the Chiefs will have had plenty of opportunity to decide for themselves whether or not he's worth the risk. They will have had plenty of time to consider him as a system fit or not. Just because I don't see it and I don't think he's worth the risk doesn't mean they don't.

Right now, I can't help but envision Jon Baldwin 2.0, but if DGB is the pick I'll support it. I will hope like hell that he gets his act together and becomes the player he is capable of becoming. There is talent there, but there is a ton of work for him to do to become a good pro.
