Will be interesting to see if they can get Frost to say yes. Complicated relationship and an awful lot for him to fix in a not-easy situation.

Nebraska was an elite program for years because it had two of the top 10 coaches in college football history back-to-back in Devaney and Osborne.

Without a hall of fame coach, it has been a GOOD program - to a very good program - but can the general Nebraska fan base accept that? Obviously, Riley was a mistake who didn't work.

If I'm Frost, and have the opportunity to pick between Florida and Nebraska, I choose Florida all day... but then,
I'm not an alum.

The danger with alum hires is the unhappy divorce if the hire doesn't meet expectations. If Nebraska hires Frost and he has the success Pelini did, is that enough?

Within the first 4-5 years? Sure.

Bo also had a lot of trouble with the media and being a general asshole that couldn't handle himself professionally which reflected on the University.
I think much of that stuff was also forcing the hand on his firing.


Being a white skinned, somewhat attractive, blue collar type that can handle themselves with cheap generic media answers and a bit of charm can easily win over a desperate fan-base in the Midwest no matter how terrible they are at the job.
Haven't we learned this as Chiefs fans?

If Nebraska hires and fires Frost for similar success to Bo Pelini, they've lost their minds.

Nebraska isn't USC, Alabama, Ohio State, Florida State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Florida or Oklahoma.

Nebraska's success during the Devaney/Osbourne years came from an old, outdated style of football. Those coaches shaped Nebraska farm boys into maulers.

Nebraska hired Bill Callahan, who brought in a "Finesse" offense and the fans hated it.

If I'm Frost, I don't touch the Nebraska job with a 10 foot pole. At Florida, he can reign over the SEC East for years and definitely have a chance at the Playoffs and ultimately, a National Championship.

That won't happen at Nebraska, IMO.
