Candylicious: Round 3, Heat Set 1

You know the rules by now. Pick one from each pair based on your preference at this very moment.

The wildcard is still in play, but they didn't come up early in the random draw again, so keep voting on the wildcard if you haven't done so.

Heat 1: Andes Mints versus Reese's Pieces

Heat 2: Butterfinger versus York Peppermint Patty

Heat 3: Whoppers versus Junior Mints

Heat 4: Snickers Crisper versus Hershey's Cookies'n'Creme

This is the heat set where mint enters the crucible, so I know how cdcox will vote. My votes:

Andes Mints over Reese's Pieces. I like Reese's Pieces, but they keep drawing tough opponents. It's hard to vote against Andes Mints with their cool taste and pleasant shape and references to exotic places. I'll go with the Andes.

York Peppermint Patty over Butterfinger. I'm pretty neutral on Butterfinger and the YPP is an amazingly good candy. Easy win for the Yorkie.

Junior Mints over Whoppers. Ouch. This is a painful choice. Both are delicious in their own way. Maybe I'm just in a minty mood today, but I'll take the Juniors in a very slight decision over the Whoppers.

Hershey's Cookies'n'Creme over Snickers Crisper. Both are spinoff candies, but in the case of HCnC, I think it may be better than the original while SC is not as good as the original. That's not valid logic, perhaps, but it leads to me to select the HCnC (which continues to be lucky in its opponent draws, I think).

Reese's Pieces. I gotta stay true. Bums me out that I have to vote for them over Andes, as Andes are my favorite mint/chocolate candies.

York over Butterfinger. At least one mint/chocolate candy is going to make it.

Whoppers. I do like Junior Mints, but given a choice between the two, I'll pick Whoppers 9 times out of 10.

Not voting in the last matchup. I don't care about either, and neither has any real chance at a final four spot anyway.

I fear that the anti-mint forces are coalescing in this heat set. We must keep mint going!

Then you shouldn't have put them against some monstrous competition. Not cool. I hate that you made me choose between Reese's and Andes.

It's all monstrous competition at this point, unless of course Hot Tamales sneak into a wild card spot.

How Snickers Crisper and Hershey's C&C are still in this competition is puzzling.

Snickers Crisper drew Tart N Tinys and Candy Corn as opponents, so I think it's gotten lucky on the draw. On the other hand, Hershey's C&C drew Lindt Chocolate Bar and M&Ms Crispy, which are tougher opponents. Hershey's C&C is a legitimate contender.

There is no fathomable reason why C&C would beat Lindt except for people like you who had no real idea what they were voting for. Whoever submitted the picture failed Lindt.

You be hatin' on C&C and it pays you no mind as it cruises along.

There were a lot of candies that I don't like in these heats. Reese's Pieces was an easy pick. I don't care for mint candies, but both mints prevail over some weak (from my POV) opponents. And I didn't have a strong feeling either way in the last heat so I picked the Hershey's CnC bar somewhat at random.

Reese's Pieces. Not a big fan of mint.
Butterfinger. Not a big fan of mint.
Junior Mints. Not a big fan of mint, so this tells you how gross I think Whoppers are.
Hershey's Cookies & Cream. Lesser of the two evils.

You've admitted to never even trying snickers crisper. Maybe it's moving forward because the people who have tried it think it's pretty good.
