How often do you change the oil in your vehicle?
I change my own oil and filter on a 10,000 mile interval. I use a blend of synthetic and conventional oil (not a pre-blend but a 50/50 mix out of bottles) and a good filter. My Camry is coming up on 10 years old and running strong.

Edmunds has a scathing article on the wastefulness of changing engine oil as frequently as 3,000 miles. It's quite interesting.

I remember when Carrington (one of the hosts on 610) didn't change the oil on his hoopty. He said he didn't even know you were supposed to change it that often haha. He hadn't changed it since he owned the vehicle, and they estimated it to be about 30k miles. Eventually it destroyed his engine and he had to get a new car. They ragged on him for days, and even had the mechanic that looked at his car on the show saying he's never seen anything like that.

Dad worked at the Deere dealership after high school and said this dude brought in an irrigation motor that wouldn't run. Dad tore it apart and said the WHOLE THING was packed clear full of sludge. Not just slimy grimey oil. ****ing sludge.

So he goes and asks the dude when the last time he changed the oil was. "Huh? I just add more when it gets low..."

My Subaru calls for every 5000 miles so I am for that. I'm running at 6000 miles right now, though, and just haven't gotten around to scheduling a change.

My wife's CR-V calls for a filter every 10,000 miles and oil every 20,000 (). I don't feel comfortable with that so just do a full oil and filter change every 10,000 miles.

I use Mobil 1 full synthetic and stock filters in all vehicles.

No need to change oil at 3000 for most vehicles less than 10-12 years old.

5,000-7,500 works just fine, in some cases 10,000.
