Naturally I would be psyched because I don't believe Smith is anything more than a placeholder. However, I believe that even if this "info" is legit, its a Chiefs whisper to the media to get any kind of leverage on Condon. I expect the Chiefs to look at QBs in the early rounds about as much as I expected them to draft a QB #1 last year on the day I heard the Chiefs struck a deal for Smith a month before it could even be done.

A better way to get leverage on Condon would be to draft the damn QB.

Nothing says, "Go **** yourself" more than self-sufficiency.

If you draft one you no longer need leverage. Using your 1st on a QB would all but sign Alex's 2015 walking papers, imo. It would be stupid to draft one and then sign Smith to a ****ing 15m/yr contract when you've got guys like Houston and Berry to deal with.

What if we draft Aaron Murray in the 3rd? I think then it's a bit of a different story.

I'd still dump Smith. Aaron Murray needs a year to heal, not so much to learn the game.

I would keep Smith around for a couple years if they went for a guy like Boyd or Thomas.

I'd rather draft Murray, sign Smith to a cheapish extension (assuming Condon ****ing cooperates) and then trade the one you have the least amount of confidence in after the 2nd year.

I'll eat a sliced pickle if we draft a QB.

I wouldn't be pissed if we take Carr at 23 because its a first qb taken in the first in a long time. There are just so many great players available.

I know that's not what he said, but it still sounded that way. Plus I wanted to call Mort a pisspot.

I know it's THE most important position in football and I am all for developing for the future... I just can't get out of my head, that IF this is a contract ploy and we take one @23 and Alex says FU and walks after '14, TWO 2nd's for TWO seasons!
Dorsey will not be off to a great start in K.C.
