Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.

Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?

Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

I ran afoul of one last time I went to the range. He was obviously an off-duty cop, one of the loudmouth blustering goon types that makes everybody hate cops. Went berserk over a minor misunderstanding that had already been resolved, felt compelled to scream at me for about five minutes, continually threatening to BAN ME FOREVER!!! because he DIDN'T LIKE MY ATTITUDE!!!! Another bullying **** hiding behind a gun and a badge. Of course, this is the only rifle range even remotely close to my house, so there wasn't much I could do but just stand there and take it. Hopefully the next person he pulls over for going 60 in a 55 blows his ****ing head off.

But even if the range guys aren't dicks (this was the only real problem I've ever had with one), I just prefer to be out in the country shooting at my leisure.

Ranges arnt like they were when I was a kid. Matches were fun then. My dads generation =WWII ran the events. That generation has passed on,& the new gen. They run it like a boot-camp now. up in these parts anyway. Not for me.
I wanna go check out an Appleseed shoot. Higher volume of children & females. I think EGOs get checked in at the door.

One thing that I normally do is wear either a Navy hat or t-shirt - I've noticed these guys tend to not **** with ex-military as much. The day I had a problem I was wearing a white t-shirt with no hat because it was hot that day. Another problem was initially I wasn't dialed in, so he may have thought I was a moron who didn't know what I was doing. After I got dialed in and started putting all my rounds in the center of the target, I never heard another word out of him.

Doesn't excuse his douche behavior, though.

Eventually I put a pair of gloves on, as soon as I did that I got the ****er in on the first try. I don't know what pissed me off more - the pain or being angry at myself for not thinking about using gloves in the first place, or at least at some point before I turned my fingertips into raw meat.

I think for me the second time I wacked my fingers the rage fueled strength helped me keep the springs under control enough to get it in. The first time I wacked myself I was like 'wtf I'm an idiot' the second time doing it I was like ok...you mother****ing piece of shit why won't you go in. Fortunately 3rd time was the charm but my fingers were not happy with me....I want to put a mat in under it so maybe next time I'll think to try some gloves!

You did better than me - I battled that goddamn thing for the better part of an hour.

I had previously put the orange rubber gasket that came with the rifle in, but it wasn't mentioned in the Geissele instructions and I wasn't going to take the chance that it would mess with the operation of new trigger, so I didn't put it back in.

Nor will I.

Gloves or no gloves, I'm never messing with that sonofabitch again unless it breaks.

need some advice or just some discussion and opinions on a few things:

1) Sold my 12 G awhile back and will look to add one one of these days. Looking for a replacement for a general bird gun that i can have a slug barrel for and probably will look for a short barrel too for home defense setup. Just looking to do it all in the same gun. I could probably get just what i'm looking for in one of those Mossberg 500 kits. Pistol grip is fine but not a must.
I just never have used Mossberg. Dependable gun? I've had mostly Rem 870 express and also wanted opinions on the Remington 887 nitromag and if anyone has one and likes it.

2) Ruger mini 14 and 30 is something i am looking into getting one possibly. I've got two coyote guns already in .22-250 and .243 cal all decked out and ready for sniping yotes and varmint. I'm comparring the 14 and 30 to a lesser AR 15 if you will. Those kinds of capablities along with a nice handy ranch gun to have in the truck too. Something along the lines of a ranch rifle chambered in one of the Winchester SSM's has always intriged me too. Just don't know if those are only bolt action and not magazine yet or not.

3) Handgun. not looking for C Carry yet. Just shooting and home defense. If a revolver i'm looking .357 because of the ability to shoot .38 spec for a cheap plinking round. I got no problem going .44 either just looking price for ammo too. If i get into a pistol instead it's between .45 ACP , 10MM first and would consider .40 cal and 9 mm too. Big thing is pricing for the ammo because other than buying the rifle loads of .22-250 and .243 i don't price the rest though of course i know .223 is the cheapest and most available. Just wanted imput on avail and cost of the revolver and pistol rd.s listed and some opinions that way. I've shot a few just never owned any handgun other than a .22 so any chatter and input would be great fellas. I'll check back in later.

For a great home defender you can't go wrong with one of these. Bought this gun from this dealer. Police trade with a bit of holster wear, but shoots like a champ and you can't beat the price.

Basically a tweener between 9mm and .45, in both size and price. You'll pay a couple/few more dollars per box than 9mm.

I have a Springfield XDM 9mm that's my primary fun gun.

Anyone have any knowledge or like/dislike on the .357 sig rd? I only know the .357 mag so this is probably a stupid ? but does the .357sig shoot the .38 like the 357 mag does?

Just checked Cabelas. For Remington UMC ammo, their prices per box of 50 are $15 for 9mm, $19 (on sale, $1 off) for .40, and $24 (on sale, $1 off) for .45.

These price increments are fairly typical.

Have never shot anything taking the .357 Sig.
