Dynasty Leaguers......I need your help

I'm planning on starting my own dynasty league (free) to determine the interest in a pay dynasty league for the future.

I've never done one before....so I'm looking for your tips....ideas....and how your league is setup.

Thanks and the rep is on the way.

Our league is set up with a 60 man roster during the off-season that has to be trimmed to 48 by the NFL's cut down day.

You have an 8 man inactive squad which consists of 5 IR guys and 3 practice squad guys (must be rookies, or someone who has never been on an active roster before).

There is trading all year long, even during the playoffs.

We do our dynasty rookie draft the week after the NFL draft is over.

It's really great to get a league started like that, but it takes a lot of time so I would suggest making it a money league because you want the same people back year after year and in a free league, people could just bail at the drop of a hat.

Are you also looking to fill spots?

I might be interested.

I've joined my first dynasty league this year and it's very enjoyable.

We may be looking for players....yeah.

The problem that we're running into is some of the teams in our current keeper league don't ****ing pay enough attention to warrant inviting them over to a dynasty league.

Are you sure you're not in my league already?

I played a guy this week who started Randall Cobb.

And a guy is still starting Doug Martin.

That helps. A couple of questions for you.

I noticed at the bottom that it says that injured players don't count against roster limits. Is that players on the IR or players that are simply injured (Questionable, Out)? How does that work when a player is no longer injured? Does it give you a warning that you need to cut a player? Does it cut one for you?

We're thinking about just having a dedicated IR spot that you can only use on a player who is actually on the IR.

Here's our rules. IR rule is located at the bottom #7

1.LEAGUE MANAGEMENT
The Christian Fantasy League will operate with no less than 8 and no more than 12 franchises. Each Franchise will have at least 1 active owner. Each owner will handle drafting , making their own weekly lineups, player moves such as free agent cuts and acquisitions, trade offers and all other roster management. (All trades must be approved by the commissioner.)
The C.F.L. owner will pay an annual entry fee agreed upon by all owners. The entry fee must be paid in full for the owner to be eligable to draft. He cannot select players and will forfiet all games until his fee is paid. The entry fee is for maintaining league opperations and a championship trophy. If any money is available at the end of the season it will be used for our annual Monday Night Football Party. This is a non-profit league. The commissioner does the work for the love of football and good christian fellowship.
The C.F.L. is a "keeper league" which means that each owner will keep the rights to a starting lineup plus 1 "franchise player" from year to year, from his full roster.

2.THE DRAFT
The annual C.F.L. Draft will be approximately 2 weeks before the start of the N.F.L. regular season. All owners must attend the draft or make previous arrangements with the commissioner. The Draft order will be determined by the standings of the previous C.F.L. season. The previous Toilet Bowl Loser will pick first and the C.F.L. Super Bowl Winner will pick last. When new owners enter the league they will have one supplemental pick before the draft and then pick in the last spot(s).The draft will be reverse order, which means the draft order will be reversed in even numbered rounds.
Each team will select from the following categories.....
Quarterbacks QB
Runningbacks RB
Wide Recievers WR
Tight Ends TE
Kickers K
Defensive/Spec.Tms. DEF
Each team will pick until their Rosters have 18 players. The owner will have the right to waive any picks in the draft if they can meet their roster requirements. They will then be encouraged to fill their roster after the draft with available free agents. If any owners do not attend the draft they will be allowed to fill their roster after the draft as soon as they pay their entry fee.

3.THE ROSTER
Each C.F.L. team will have a roster of not more than 18 players.
The players must be on an NFL roster or they will be dropped from your C.F.L. Roster. Each C.F.L. team must have at least:
1 QB
2 RB
2 WR
1 TE
1 K and
1 DEF
C.F.L. teams will NOT have more than:
3 QB's
5 RB's
5 WR's
2 TE's
3 K's and
2 DEF/Special Teams.
If teams carry more than their share of players at any position during "gametime" they will forfiet that game.

4.TRADES TRANSACTIONS AND
FREE AGENCY
Each team may trade players with another team at any point during the season until the trade deadline. The deadline will be the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Once all teams involved in a trade agree upon the terms of the deal, they must notify the Commissioner for approval before the trade is valid.
****Two same teams are permitted to make trades with each other as many times as they wish during the allowed time, however only the first trade will be aproved by only the commissioner. The second trade and any thereafter will be presented to the league COMPETITION COMMITTEE (see new rules at the end of the Constition) for approval. The trade must recieve 2 approvals from the competition commitee before it will be allowed. The purpose of this rule is to keep two teams from trading only between themselves. We should look to the entire league for trades.****
Trades ARE permitted during the offseason with the Commissioners approval. Teams are only allowed to trade 2 players/draft picks to or from their roster to another team at any one time during the off-season. Teams may do this with more than one team during the offseason
Any team may cut/release any player from their roster at any time during the NFL regular season.
Any team may acquire/pickup any player on an NFL roster during the C.F.L. season as long as it conforms to the League rules regarding roster requirements. Absolutely NO roster ADDITIONS during the off-season, which begins immediately after the final lineups are secured for the last game of the season (Week 17).
C.F.L. free-agents are available on a waiver basis. CBSSports will handle the waiver process based the prior weeks waiver order.

5.LINE-UP
All teams must make their line-ups each week by :05 MINUTES BEFORE KICKOFF of that players game. LINEUPS will lock before Sunday morning games for players that are playing on Sunday.

6.PLAYOFFS
Four teams will qualify for the playoffs. The playoff seeding will be the three division winners plus the best team after that. The # 1 seed going to the team with the best record, #2 to the second best and so on.Tie breakers will be as follows....Ties inside divisions are broken first, with the winner of that tie advancing to the next tie, if applicable.
1.Division record if teams are in same division.
2.Win-Loss record versus
opponents in tie.
3.Overall points scored.
4.Points scored versus opponents
in tie.
5.Fewest overall points allowed.
6.Fewest points allowed with
teams in tie.
Teams will be matched
1st vs. Wildcard
2nd vs. 3rd
Winners of those games will play for the C.F.L. Superbowl.
Losers of those games will play
for the better draft pick in next
years draft. Loser getting the
better pick.
The eight teams that do not
qualify for the playoffs will play
to lose for better draft picks in the following years draft.
Of those eight teams, the worst four will be playing for the first pick in the draft.

BONUS RULE ! ! !
Back-up QB allowance. If you have a QB who is injured in a game and you have his back up on your roster at that time, you wil also be awarded his points for that game only.

NEW RULES FOR 2007 ! ! !
1- COMPETITION COMMITTEE A 3 team Competition Committee has been formed to control any disputes in fair play and gamesmanship. This group of 3 owners, 1 from each division, will make sure that no team is intentionally "flopping', or that all trades brought before the committee are fair and handle any other dis-agreement necessary.
2-NO FLOP RULE Teams are not allowed to intentionally lose or FLOP games at any time during the regular CFL Season. Once an owner is in the Toilet Bowl Playoffs they are allowed to try to lose, but only with healthy players on their roster at the completion of the regular CFL Season.
3-FORFIET RULE If a team has to forfiet a game their points from that game are eliminated resulting in a 0 score for that week. The opposing team shall keep their points.
4-RED DEVIL RULE (*Ammended for 2008) Teams are allowed to trade no more than 2 players/draft picks to or from their roster during the offseason.
*Teams are allowed to trade 2 for 2 with more than one team during the ofseason.
NOTE - Teams must still carry a complete starting lineup plus 1 franchise player from season to season. No exceptions.
5-UNREASONABLE TRADE REQUESTS Trades are NOT allowed 2 years out. Example: Trading a player now for a draft pick the season after the next. Also, Trades involving conditional draft picks and swapping picks in a round depending on who finishes with the higher pick will be rejected by the commissioner. Those picks are too hard to keep correct.
6- 17 GAME SCHEDULE The length of the season shall remain 17 weeks including playoffs. This promotes a balanced roster and gives everyone more games.
7- INJURED RESERVE RULE Teams are allowed to keep 1 player on IR. That player must actually be injured and OUT (inactive) of the lineup on his NFL team. No player shall be kept on the IR from one season to the next. Should an owner elect to keep an injured player from season to season that player will count as a regular roster player.
8- OFF SEASON ROSTERS Roster moves are locked after the lineup deadline at the beginning of Week 17 games. Trades will not be allowed until the Season Ending League Party and Owners Meeting.
9- TOILET BOWL LINEUPS Opponents in the Toilet Bowl have the right to select the other teams lineup for their game together. They can use this right or let their opponent pick their own lineup.

I've used CBS for many years, but the price tag is ridiculous - around $180 or so. Have jumped ship to Myfantasyleague and have a number of leaguees on that site. Fees are modest - around $50 a year - and the set up is extremely customizable. It isn't as slick as CBS, but it works great, is a great set up for dynasty and has good support. Highly recommend their product.

I'm a dedicated owner if you're looking for managers'. I've been in a few groups for 4-5 years now.

I'd love to try the dynasty leagues.
