How good could Chris Jones be as a rookie?

In case you missed it, Chris Jones was beasting again yesterday.

PFF seems to agree. He was our highest rated player overall for the preseason going into the game yesterday.
Rookie DE Chris Jones looking like a second-round steal

Quote:
Chris Jones was one of the highest-graded interior defenders in the nation last season, and was No. 12 on PFF’s final draft board, but slid all the way to Kansas City in the second round at pick No. 37. In this game, he dominated the Bears, generating three hurries, a batted pass, and stuffing more than one play deep in the backfield. He displayed the strength and quickness combination that made multiple PFF analysts fall in love with him as a prospect, and looks like a true impact player for the Chiefs already.

It's pretty clear that Chris Jones can and will beat weaker/slower OL this year. He's proven that though 3 preseason games.

What are your thoughts on this kid? Could he provide more than his replacement, Mike DeVito, this year?
DeVito had 19 tackles, 3 stuffs and 3 sacks.

That would be a straight up beast mode DL.
What's the advantage of moving Poe to end and starting Jones at nose? Jones is built more like an end than Poe and is more athletic. Poe's low center of gravity makes him hard to move off his spot at nose tackle. If you want to start Jones, start him at DE and rotate Howard at all 3 line spots.

IMO Poe should be used similarly to how Ngata was for Baltimore and I think he would be great in that role. I also believe that Jones best role is rushing in the a gaps.

Devito was a nice player and exactly the kind of guy you want to fill out your roster. But Jones might be a star.

Jones going up against the Center would be very interesting considering how fast he gets off the snap. We also saw how well he can bat down passes against Chicago. That could be very disruptive having a big fast guy getting a good jump on the ball and be a force in the backfield. Jones also made a nice tackle for a loss on the RB-his guy did not even get into the stance to block him before Jones was by him and making the hit. Speed Kills.

I think Poe stays -but it does give Sutton a lot of options.

Jones isn't gonna be Aaron Donald and get 9 sacks this year. I've read some Twitter folks comparing him to Fletcher Cox, which would be ideal.

5.5 sacks sounds reasonable. I see around 600 snaps for the kid this year.

I bet he doesn't see a single double team all year playing next to Howard and/or Poe.

He's been very disruptive shooting the a and b gaps this preseason and was a DT in college. He has a huge frame and a lot of natural strength. I know it didn't look great in PS, but this DL is going to be downright nasty.

I think he can
