Killer apps for Android?

Since there's an iPhone version, I figured I'd start a Droid version. After being handcuffed by Sprint's SERO plan for the past two years, I finally ordered my LG Optimus S last night. It'll be here in about 24 hours. So, what toys should I play with when it arrives?

Don't know if this has been mentioned, but I recently discovered this.

Pretty cool.

Also, if ride a motorcycle, this one is handy. You set up your parameters for what weather you're willing to accept and it gives you a motorcycle icon or a car icon for each day of the week.

This one is kind of fun to play around with if you play a musical instrument. I mainly have been using the drum machine to jam with on my guitar. You could write an entire song of drum parts to play along with if you so choose. There are other instruments although some aren't that good (bass?). But it does have a multitrack record option.

Check out XDA developers- it'll give you a step by step instructions for how to do it and loading custom roms.

Worth it - completely. You will find more than ample information on it all over there. Probably more than you may bargain for, but tons of benefits if you're a fan of open source customizable setups as well as getting around some pesky limitations some apps lock down that restrict how or where they can be used.

I just put up a copy of the XDA Premium app - way easier to navigate through their forums with it !

http://www61.zippyshare.com/v/70977197/file.html

You only need to register to get a username and password and then there will be a subforum setup specifically for the S4 and your network provider - TMo, Sprint, etc...

What do you guys use for messaging on Android..."secure" messaging or otherwise? I got my hands on that motorola that came out last year and have a couple days to do some forensic analysis on it. I'm looking to generate some traffic, then I'll pull an image of the phone and will look to see what can be retrieved during a forensic analysis.

I've also got a burner iPhone (I'm not building my slide deck based on my own data) that I'll be using. Other than Whats App, SnapChat, Threema and Wickr, what's out there that's popular?

Textsecure by Moxi Marlinspike

The Axolotl ratchet in TextSecure is the most advanced cryptographic ratchet available. Axolotl ensures that new AES keys are used for every single message, and it provides TextSecure with both forward secrecy and future secrecy properties.

just realize that you have zero privacy on those, and likely a clear record of everything you say/write is available somewhere for at least 30 days.

silent circle is not opensource (unlike textsecure) and is not free. In either case, the security of a communication app such as silentcircle is dubious on top of a system using propreity blobs of code.

The only thing close would be the replicant project or building your own gsm phone, or having a wifi phone with no cellular capability.

looking for a lockscreen app with these features:
1. replaces stock lockscreen. doesnt just sit on top or run in memory concurrently.

2. gesture unlock

3. prevents changes in sound (vibrate), radios (airplaine mode), or power-off while the phone is locked. All of these things can be manipulated on a stock lockscreen (while locked) making it easier for thieves to avoid detection.

thanks for your suggestions.
