2016 KC Chiefs Goat(s)

Every year there a few Chiefs who I start out being kind of "down" on. You know, guys who are supposed to be better than their performance, or new guys who you just can't warm up to.....so, you don't exactly hate 'em, but you watch them with suspicion.

Examples of prior such "goats" include:

Alex - Too darned risk averse (i.e. deflated balls)
Fisher - Expected more of a #1 pick
Ford - Terrible at everything except first step
Wilson - Won't dive for the ball
Sorensen - Not fast enough
Parker - Misses too many tackles
DAT - Timid
Fleming - Too toasty
Gaines - Brittle
Santos - Any kicker can qualify to be disliked with a couple of bad kicks
Colquitt - See above
Etc.

Anyway, this year, the guy I'm most "down" on is Mr Dee Ford. I think the guy has a ton of physical talent, but I question his football IQ and his dedication to the sport. Yeah, perhaps he's a new man this year, but I'm gonna have to see it to believe it.

Second on my list this year is DAT. Hard to fathom what the heck happened at the end of last year. Does the guy really want to be here?

My third guy is Knile Davis. Guy has some talent, but puts the ball on the rug way too much. Hold onto the fricking ball!

So, who do you have a wayward eye on this year? Fire away, lads.

This team is in prime position to be a contender for the next few years, and I'm a homer for believing they can get it done? Clearly another clueless idiot.

Alright, Barry.

You're just an idiot following a false narrative that I've been homering it up in all my time on CP.

New flash: I didn't even start posting often till this regime came along. We were in football purgatory and I was miserable about talking Chiefs. This regime changed my tune.

They aren't perfect, and they've made their share of mistakes, but none of that matters if they get us that ****ing Lombardi. I stay optimistic because that is still a very real possibility, more real than its been in quite some time. The second it's not, you won't see me being a "blind homer" on CP. I can tell you that.

Will we actually get it done? I don't ****ing know. If we do though, it'll feel much better knowing I've believed in it all along and enjoyed the ride. I know that much.

Yes, I remember when you started posting a lot. It was just a couple years ago. My first thought was, "staylor, hmm, my brother wrestled a kid named Christian Staylor from Pennsylvania in the Semis at a huge national wrestling tournament." My second thought was, "oh, well this guy is a homer, fo sho!!!"

Maybe the list was a bad example (out of tons) that have reflected your homerism that you apparently are unable to see the extent of, and that's my bad. It just came to mind because I vaguely remember that thread and remember thinking, "holy shot, this blind homer staylor dude is really into this list." Sorry for the bad example, but there are tons of other examples that have indicated you homeristic tendencies.

You are a hostile dude, man. Whoa.

Damn right it isn't! He better not have production like that again.

If he runs a 40 yard td I fully expect Andy to tell him to grab some wood on the bench.

I'm all ears for any of these other examples you speak of.

The only one anybody else can come up with is CAT, and all I said about him was that he could've been a good situational pass rusher. I've owned up to that one though.

Truth is, there hasn't been a whole lot to be negative about in the past 3 years, so like Clay the idiot homers have turned into idiot haters.

My optimism isn't about perfection (I've openly disagreed with some of Reid and Dorsey's decisions) as much as it is about this teams chances of achieving the ultimate goal. You can't label somebody a homer for being optimistic about something that is clearly a legitimate possibility.

GoChiefs actually was a huge homer. Absolutely loved him some Damon Huard and even defended ol' Matty Cassel for the first couple years, IIRC.

Now he's this grotesque, tortured soul..

Oh, but he's got himself an inner lil Chiefy ready to bust out! That light shined bright for like 2 weeks back during our 7-win streak in 2014. Then we lost and he reverted back to his old ways.

Go **** yourself.

There's a difference between being optimistic and being a huge homer. I don't overrate the Chiefs as a team or individually as players. I have a damn good pulse on the rest of the league, and I am capable of being objective.
