Man, it looks like the options at 23 are going to be boss.

Scott Wright just released a two round mock.

We went with Brandin Cooks:

Quote:
In less than a year the Chiefs went from the worst team in the league to one of the best. It’s amazing what the addition of a competent head coach and quarterback can do for a franchise. However, after going undefeated through the first couple months of the season the Chiefs tailed off down the stretch leaving no doubt that there are still some issues to iron out. Perhaps the most significant is at wide receiver, where there isn’t much to get excited about beyond Dwayne Bowe. Oregon St. WR Brandin Cooks is coming off an outstanding final college campaign in which he racked up an eye-popping 128 receptions for 1,730 yards and 16 touchdowns for the Beavers. An explosive athlete with elite speed and terrific hands and ball skills who can create after the catch, Cooks would be a perfect compliment to Bowe and give the Chiefs offense a dynamic, big play dimension that they are currently lacking. Marqise Lee of USC, Kelvin Benjamin of Florida St. and Odell Beckham of L.S.U. Brandin Cooks | Oregon St. Beavers are alternate options or they could even choose to wait a round or two and take advantage of the tremendous depth that this class offers at the position. If by some miracle Alabama ILB C.J. Mosley were to fall this far that would be an ideal fit and Kansas City could also consider Louisville S Calvin Pryor to team with Eric Berry. A hallmark of Andy Reid’s tenure in Philly was a tendency to address the offensive and defensive lines in the early rounds of the NFL Draft so watch out for a offensive guard or defensive end too.
The other options remaining on the board:

QB Derek Carr, Fresno State
WR Kelvin Benjamin, Florida State
WR Odell Beckham, Jr., LSU
WR Jordan Matthews, Vanderbilt
TE Jace Amaro, Texas Tech
OT Cyrus Kouandjio, Alabama
OG David Yankey, Stanford
OG Xavier Sua-Filo, UCLA
DE/DT Ra'Shede Hageman, Minnesota
DE/DT Stephon Tuitt, Notre Dame
DE/OLB Kony Ealy, Missouri
ILB Ryan Shazier, Ohio State
CB Darqueze Dennard, Michigan State
CB Bradley Roby, Ohio State
CB Kyle Fuller, Virginia Tech

I could really see Dennard dropping. I think he's really overrated and this CB class sucks.

As deep as this WR class is, it would be hard to pass up Hageman here and still get a very good WR in the 3rd or 4th round.

He could play further outside too. He's probably my pick on that list.

Beckham, Cooks, Amaro, Hageman would be solid choices.

Hell, you could go down into the 2nd round via trade and still get a guy off that list.

There are a lot of prospects with 1st round grades this year, IMO. You could go as far back as pick 45 and still get one.

I do agree on Dennard because he has Taylor Mays hips, but after reading BlackBobs take I'm rethinking my stance on him.

...

If Kony Ealy is still on the board and we can't trade down , he better be the pick. I expect him to go top ten or I'd be pimping the shit out of him on here.

That kid could really help this defense get to the next level.

Best case scenario would be moving back 10 spots, getting a second rounder back and drafting Amaro.

Hey D, would love to see you do a depth comparison by position. For instance, how many of each may go by rd. So if you think the talent level isn't as deep at a position it could influence your pick. An example would be if say 7 wr's could go in 1st, that would lead to another position with not as much depth being available etc.
Article says Reid usually goes line early, where chiefs have a couple glaring holes. I'm curious about depth at those positions as it would seem to be an influence where they go.

Brandin Cooks will be this year's Tavon Austin and will probably go before 23 as his stock continues to rise and his game fits perfectly to where the NFL game is at today. I hope not but don't be surprised
