You admitted in a previous thread that if you and Franklin were in the same room, you would (and I quote) "swallow every drop".

Yeah, right after we got Shields, the value of veteran pitchers started to fall. Teams now want hitters and young players.

It's July 31st, and the Tigers have already shut the Royals out for 27 consecutive innings.

You don't understand the concept of "surplus value" if you don't think those two have a ton of value relative to their cost. AF knows it though. Besides they weren't going to be able to pay Price $20m. Don't be shocked if Det lets him walk too. $20m is a huge bullet for anyone to swallow. There are prob 5 teams max who can, so that limited AFs options.

What was Tampa thinking? Surely they could have received more this winter for Price. Why deal him now for basically nothing?

I wonder why the Royals weren't putting a package together for Price. Zimmer and colon probably could compare in value. Detroit has the capacity to extend price where the Royals do not, however.

ok, I think we can now call it, the Royals decided to pass. Deadline deal details do trickle out over an hour after the deadline, but we usually know within minutes if a team is involved in any way at all in a deal.

This is the Royals window and they choose to stand pat while every other playoff team gets stronger. Kiss the season good bye.

No bats were traded for at all. Either the market was way too high, or nobody wanted them. That was the Royals #1 need.
