I don't think they took the implications of the staggered launch very seriously, which is pretty disappointing. Virtually every decision with managing an MMO should be well vetted.

I think it's a great way to do it. I don't want to be standing around fighting for mob spawns when I get the game.

It has some benefits, but to me, the cons outweigh them. Consider the following:

1) I can't start at the same time as my buddy, therefore he has a character that is level 20 or whatever, while I am starting from scratch.

2) The earliest invitees get better server performance than late invitees on top of having less interference from other players.

3) The early invitees will undoubtedly gain an edge economically as they have earliest access to resources.

4) My character will be harassed in PvP areas while early invitees got to go through without encountering high-level gankers.

On the whole, the early invitees will have a tangible advantage over the late invitees.

Yes, but for these advantages, aren't those rewards for putting their money where their mouth is earlier and proving it by entering the pre-order code first? For all the people complaining, they could have been playing already as well if they would have let their wallet do the talking earlier.

I could see why people would be envious of not getting to play earlier, but they had the chance just as much as the earliest players of getting the pre-order code and entering it.

Yes and no.

It wasn't announced until well after the pre-orders began that they would be implementing a waved-launch based on them. Further, some of us couldn't pre-order due to lack of internet access at the pre-order date.

Add to that the fact that my redemption code from origins didn't work until well after I had ordered it... Very frustrating experience overall.

This is all so laughable. Everyone is going to be able to play on the 20th, that's when the game comes out. I don't understand why people are disappointed or mad that they didn't get in early. Treat it like a normal release and consider it a bonus if you get in early. FFS.

What's the point of pre-ordering if you can't play on launch?

You can play on launch. The game launches on the 20th. If you're lucky enough to get early access, be grateful.

The game launched today, no matter what date they want to call the official launch. I'm not getting "early" access. I'm getting the game three days after it launches. What a marketing sham, like I'm supposed to be grateful for being three days behind the curve of a game I pre-ordered.

The point of pre-ordering is to make sure you have a copy of the game on hand as soon as it comes out, not to get some sort of early access rights (be thankful you're even getting that privilege with this game).

The official release date doesn't mean JACK. They launched today. There are people building live characters right now and at a tangible advantage. They will likely be level capped before I even get to play the game. Because they've officially labeled the release date as the 20th doesn't mean they haven't launched the live version.

Even dev's can be quoted as saying today is the launch. What the **** is your comprehension issue, here?

I don't have a comprehension issue. I knew all along that the game is coming out on the 20th. You can't walk into BestBuy right now and buy a physical copy of the game. It's not out. I guess I just don't care enough to rage about certain people getting early access. LOL
