Found this on Facebook. Evan Weiner. Well known author
wait the Pro Football Hall of Fame elected Eddie DeBartolo to the Hall of Fame (imagine the outcry if this was baseball) - In 1992, Debartolo was accused of sexual assault at his Menlo Park condo by a cocktail waitress he met at a local bar. The married DeBartolo, who denied any wrongdoing, was never charged but reportedly paid $200,000 to settle the case out of court. DeBartolo was involved in the 1998 corruption case of former Louisiana governor Edwin Edwards. DeBartolo pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to report a felony, and received a $1 million fine and two years of probation in return for his testimony against Edwards. Edwards was on trial for extortion and other charges, among which were the $400,000 he demanded from DeBartolo to gain a river boat casino license. DeBartolo never received the license, was fined by the NFL, and barred from active control of the 49ers for one year. Even the Pro Football Hall of Fame process has a black cloud over it Thoughts

It seems like this choice likely had to do with his recent death as well as the announcement earlier this week that he had CTE from his time in the NFL. The HOF selections always baffle me when they decide to vote someone in decades after they are done playing.

Tony Dungy in the HOF is bullshit.
If Dungy is in the HOF then you could make an argument for Dick Vermeil in the HOF. Vermeil has 19 less career wins than Dungy. Dungy has a better career winning %, but Vermeil took two teams to a Super Bowl, winning one. I don't think Vermeil deserves to be in the HOF, but if Dungy got in, you have to say Vermeil has an argument to get in as well. |

I hope the Dungy and Marvin Harrison announcements weren't part of an NFL effort to make this weekend a Peyton Manning grand finale.

Tony Dungy in the Hall. Laughable. He benefitted from Dan Dierdorff disease - always on TV in prime time with a big smile on his face.

Man. This class really hurts. We have a convicted felon in Debartolo, we've got a gun-toting Marvin Harrison, we've got Dungy who clearly is being confused with someone else, and we've got Ken Stabler of the dirtiest teams in NFL history. A full half of this class is headshaking and embarrassing.

Oh, I just figured out the Tony Dungy thing. They picked him because it lets them do interviews with Peyton Manning and milk that cash cow one more time.
