My rankings:

California (Southern): The unit is nice but not spectacular. However, Laguna is awesome. While it's not the best location within Laguna, it's very convenient to the good areas. There's no good park access, but I'd figure out a solution.

Arizona: The access to services isn't great, but it's not horrible, and I figure there are running trails around. The house is gorgeous. This is a winner.

New York (City): It's a pretty nice place, and living in Manhattan would be cool. But it's small. That's really the only problem.

Oregon: Coos Bay seems like a nice place. The house is okay, not spectacular, and the location isn't very convenient. So it marks down notably.

Iowa: Great house. Good style, good size. But it's not very convenient to anything, which marks it down a lot.

I went Arizona. I'd have to do some work on interior decorating - moving out all the dead animals and getting away from the cliché southwest décor - but I could definitely make that work.

I was really torn between Arizona and California. I was probably a little biased because I know that part of California really well, but that Arizona property is pretty awesome.

One thing this competition has taught me is that a lot of people put dead animals in their house. I've seen mountain lions on joists, bears all over the place, one full-size mountain goat standing beside a couch, and of course the elephant head. I had no idea it was that popular.

I haven't had a look yet, but I remember the Flagstaff, AZ house blew my mind.
I had no idea such place existed in AZ. I thought it all looked like Tatooine. (Bowser's critiques on the interior of the house still apply).

Flagstaff for me. The views in Oregon almost make up for a so-so house and I'm sure SoCal would be nice but Flagstaff has the best combination. (Agree with Bowser about the dead animals.)

What if it was a full sized mountain goat? Because I saw one of those in a house during this contest.

With a lot of these houses you could give it it's own room. And bath.

A good portion of the state, all northern Arizona, looks quite like that. Winters with snow (Flagstaff gets a ton) and all. It's a big misconception people have.

That's a great house on a lake in Arizona. That's the winner for me.

Southern California and NYC appeal to me most, which is hilarious considering they're basically about as opposite from each other as can be.

I'd go Laguna. Keep living the beach lifestyle.

Nothing will beat the stingray on the wall in the basement. Can't remember which house that was, but that takes the cake.

And you're right, Rain Man - I had no idea the wealthy in this country liked to adorn their places with carcasses all over until this little game. Very interesting. Somewhat disturbing, but interesting.

IIRC, one of these houses had an elephant in it.
