I moved back into my old building (long story). One of my HVAC's is thumping. It sounds like a soft bass drum. Even when the blower is not going nor the system trying to heat. I even turned off the unit (light switch thingie on the unit). Still thumps. Around 5 times a minute. It is not rhythmic.

There it went 2x w/in 4 seconds?

It is in the old basement. There is a fair amount of water on the floor. The "Condensate Pump" is bad. I disconnected it and will let the water run on the old floor for now. I have a new one.

How come there is such a big puddle? I could understand if is was the summer and the A/C running.

I am smart enough to be dumb. I'm just trying to eliminate variables. No clue.

AHHHHH, ghosts or gremlins. Still thumping.

Damn that last one took 2.15 min.

Dunno. I have had a HVAC company to come out for the last 1.5 weeks for another issue. I don't have an emergency and have heat. They are fixing water leaks and blown HVAC systems in town.

Thoughts?

This is an office building. All venting is on top of the roof. No tree's, leaves, gutters.

Not sure. My office is directly above the unit. I hear it here. I can only hear out of one ear, thus it is hard for me to determine where sounds come from.

Nope, when it is not running and when it is...doesn't matter. No pattern. As I type, it just did it again.....again. It is not running.

Answer the ****ing question "Any water inside unit?"

Is it (vent on roof) letting water in? if so it can run down the inside or outside of the (pvc?) pipe

Is there water coming from the condensation lines down to the broken pump? Which one? There is an AC and a line from the internal of the furnace and maybe a humidifier if you have one?

The point is: Where is the water coming from? The roof, the A.C., humidifier, inside the furnace, or maybe the 800lb gorilla in the cage is pissing in the basement?

Have you been able to stand next to it and hear it? If yes does it seem to be coming from the unit? I understand you may not be able to answer this.

My noises were caused by the sheet metal flexing as the ductwork cooled near the furnace.

I had a squirrel stuck in my hvac venting once. I couldn't figure out what all the scratching and scraping was. Later I found a dead squirrel lodged in the vent pipe.

The unit is ~ 10-15 years old. Lennex I believe.

If it uses PVC for the vent it is a 90%. If it is metal vent pipe it is an 80%.
