So, it's happened: 16 years of driving and I've had my first fender bender. It wasn't my fault; the girl behind me wasn't paying attention, it was raining out and she didn't brake in time.

The damage appears minimal, but it's a 2 year old car so I'm fairly certain repairs are going to be quite costly for them. Her father spoke with me on her phone and requested to pay out of pocket. He was cordial enough, so I'm not out to screw anyone over; I just want my car fixed.

The police gave us a case number, I filed a report with my insurance, but here are my questions:

My car is under warranty still. Do I go to the dealership to ensure OEM parts?

How can their insurance company, should the bill be to high for him to pay, try to screw me over?

Anything else I should be aware of before I begin this process?

Get bids, collect the money, rub some dirt on that tiny scratch and drive the ****ing thing.

It would be an easy install yourself. Go get a quote from a body shop, get the money from the guy, fix it yourself, then profit. (and you don't have to report it to anyone's insurance). These bumper covers just take a couple of screws and they just clip in and out.
