Realistic-Optimistic Outlook

The negativity of this place gets a little tiresome at times. I, as many want and desire a young first round QB, I was even on the Barkley wagon this year. However, the hate of Alex Smith is a little over-board. Am I personally happy we sent a 2nd rounder for him? Absolutely not, but he is far better than the majority of people are giving him credit for. He was a fumbled punt away from taking his team the the SB two years ago, in which he played very well in the playoffs, and off to a pretty good season last year.

With that being said, I am not saying I love the guy, but he is 20 times better than Casshole, and anyone who says otherwise has never seen him play in a game... The Chiefs will compete this year, they will compete for the wild card.

I could see a 10-6 season, with Alex Smith playing well, like he will do for the next 3-4 years. It's bitter-sweet, we won't get the QB we want in the first round, but this WILL be a competitive team, that WILL be fun to watch..

I am calling it now. Smith will throw for 3500 yards, 28 td's, and 11 INTS.

Boom.

Understandable. I want a young QB as much as anyone, but this guy has the tools to be solid, as shown the past season and 1/2.

The interesting thing about Alex Smith is that he actually throws FEWER passes down the field than Casshole.

Your response?

Based on what I was forced to watch with Casshole it's at least accurate and complete.

Your response?
Did you watch him in the playoffs last year, the Saint's game in particular?

Your response?

5 td, 0 int in play-off appearances, with a 7.3 average per attempt.

Yeah.

That game is not indicative of his ability as a QB.

He never does that.

He's a dink and dunk QB.

The Chiefs are "rebuilt" into the 2010 Chiefs... they will need luck and a weak schedule to win 10 games and will have zero staying power in the playoffs.

On pace for a lot more than dinking and dunking last year.

Yea, because we have Matt Cassel to throw 3 ints for us, and piss down his legs... Not.

What? No. His yards per completion was still in the bottom third of the league.

Lower than 2010 Matt Cassel, even!

Alex Smith is dink and dunk more than anyone.

I honestly could see a somewhat similar year to 2010 based on our schedule alone. Haven't seen a schedule so favorable in so long.

And Alex Smith has better weapons at RB and WR here than in San Francisco. Bowe and Charles made Cassel look like a top 10 QB at times in 2010. Don't see why they can't make Smith look better.

People like to throw out dink and dunk like it's this horrible way of playing offense. It's not the greatest obviously, but it works. Big Ben had one of his best seasons last year in Haley's dink and dunk offense.
Alex Smith was on pace to throw 24 TD's last year. Don't see why 25 is so hard to predict since Bowe and Charles are far more dangerous than anyone on that offense not named Vernon Davis.

I honestly think this is one of the more talented Chiefs teams I've witnessed from a personnel point.

On paper

-Our OL looks as good as I have seen it since the DV days (assuming Albert is here which looks to be happening).

-Our LB's look so good. My favorite part of the entire team.

- Our weapons are as strong as I've seen them in a long time. I like Kelce being added to Charles and Bowe.

I think coaching is the biggest factor. It's killed this team for years and I like Andy's aggressive approach.

The DL, WR's outside of Bowe, few holes in the secondary and worry me, but we'll see how it all pans out.

Still stand by 9-7, but I think 10-6 is possible if things go right like they did in 2010 i.e. no injuries, ball falls our way, etc.

Alex Smith can actually read a defense and find an outlet receiver rather than heave it far away so he's not hit by the big mean man rushing thru his pourous OLine?

I'm w/ stumppy, the hate is far overblown. Is he great? No. Is he better than Cassel? Far better. Can we compete with Alex Smith? Honestly not sure there. Better chance than we had before, and probably better (now anyway) than w/ any of the rookies this year.

The hate comes from Chiefs history and the overpriced trade I think, both of them justified. But Dorsey/Ried don't care about the history, and in time may pay the price for the price, so we shall see. Bottom line I DO see an improved team heading in the right direction, so i'm still hopeful for now. I'm not expecting a miracle turnaround in 1 offseason from the shit pile ***** left us in.

Just trying to educate you, young man.

Alex Smith:

1. Throws more short passes than almost anyone else in the NFL.

2. Is the most sacked QB in the NFL.

3. Throws fewer TDs than Matt Cassel.

4. Is terrible on third down.
