We just might get a trade down yet.

A pretty good source is confirming pretty much what Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reported earlier today and that is that the Dolphins have OOs Luke Joeckel of Texas A&M and Central Michigan’s Eric Fisher rated considerably higher than Oklahoma’s Lane Johnson. As such, the Dolphins don’t appear to be all that interested in trading up for Johnson as has been speculated around the league in recent days, but are very keen to move up for either Joeckel or Fisher. In fact, according to sources the Dolphins won’t rule out trading all the way up to the #1 pick to get one of those guys if that’s what it takes. In fact, Miami G.M. Jeff Ireland confirmed at a pre-draft presser yesterday that the Dolphins, who have extra selections in both the second and third rounds, are prepared to move up in this year’s open round and won’t rule out dealing for the top pick.

To which "mountains of analysis" do you refer? Because I have yet to see a convincing argument against Smith from any established expert, many (of not most) of whom have moved him steadily up their draft boards since January. He already had the college numbers and tape, then he nailed the Combine, then he nailed his pro day, and finally he has purportedly done extremely well on his interviews. He appears to be going in the top 10. So basically all I'm hearing about him are things that I already knew to begin with.

Getting the #1 pick with this particular draft class was the absolute worst ****ing thing that could happen to this board from January-April.

My balls would shrivel from emptiness if this happened.

any trade down with the phins would bring a very nice haul. And the more pics you get for NEXT year even better I would think. But, the dolphins cant be serious can they? I mean I hope they are, that would be hilarious.....

Jets might need to trade up to #1 if they ship Sanchez to TB in the Revis trade. They will have the #9 and #13 picks in the first round.

With little hope of drafting a QB, I'd love to trade down instead of wasting that pick on a freakin' LT. We have a perfectly good LT now, so what's the upside? Give Albert the money, trade down, move on. If we can stay in the top 10 and get a high 2nd, I think I'm good. Anything else is icing on the cake.

You're trolling, right? We'll just trade the #1 overall for the #12 pick and a bag of Doritos. JFC!!! Some people just need to stop with the glass half empty attitude and introduce themselves to reality. NOBODY will ever trade from #1 to #12 for nothing more than a second rounder to exchange. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! If that were the case, it would happen every year in the draft for the all but guaranteed day 1 starter. With the new rookie scale, teams are no longer scared of the huge signing bonuses under the previous pay scale. The #1 has more value now than it did then.
