I remember laying on the floor in my bedroom in the dark, listening to some combination of Denny, Denny and Fred announce a game late in a pennant race, in the late 70s or early 80s. Magical times.

I remember one time when I was at my Grandmother's cabin in Stover Mo. - had to have been 81 or so - The Royals were on the radio - it was late / storming - they played something like 19 innings that night.

My earliest memory as a Royals fan was watching Broxton walk off the A's by a bases loaded HBP, and then two days later Hochevar gave up seven runs before a single Royal even came to the plate in the home opener. I was hooked.
2012 was a fun year. Though, watching the Royals through one year of misery beats watching them through 30 years of misery . |

I'd be lying on the floor in our TV Room (which used to be our garage), listening to the Royals game on the radio. My Dad would be half listening with me as he watched TV. The whole time, as I was laying on the floor, I'd throw a baseball with my right hand up to the ceiling and catch it with my left hand. At the end of an inning, I'd switch and throw with the left and catch with the right. I would often times hit the ceiling. EVERY time I did that, my Dad would say, "knock that shit off". Of course, I'd stop for 2 mins and resume doing it. My Dad and I would have that same conversation 10-15 times during the course of any game Those are great memories.....RIP, Dad

I missed the game last night, but saw this clip on my Facebook feed early this morning.
It might be the worst outfield throw in the history of baseball. http://m.mlb.com/video/v1066759583/?game_pk=448672 |
