Official 2012-2013 NBA Thread

Looks like James Harden has been To the Rockets for Jeremey Lamb, Kevin Martin and future picks. Plus... this is a general NBA thread.

Kyrie is Mr. 4th Quarter. He is so clutch when it matters. I don't know what the hell is going on with Speights. He's been amazing, I still can't believe Memphis made that trade. Cleveland is a fun team to watch, they are really starting to play competitive ball. Maybe we won't need LeBron after all.

Irving is going to be one of the best players in the league. Just keep building around him and good things will happen.

Yeah that trade has been awesome so far. Cleveland is soo close. Irving, Waiters, and Thompson just need a little more seasoning and they need a better SF and C instead of just guys who will make great depth/rotational guys. Zeller wasn't a bad pick, he just isn't a starter. Can play solid minutes at the 4 and 5.

I'm just glad the Thunder lost. They're so coddled by the refs, they're like the Patriots of the NBA.

This. Though let me change something. Irving and Thompson have been tremendous. Thompson has gone under the radar, but he has quietly become a superstar. In recent games, he's averaging about 16 points and 10 boards a game. Waiters... I don't know. I sure hope the pick works out because I'm really not a fan. I worry that he and Kyrie don't complement each other very well.

The Cavs are in a great place. They need more consistency out of Waiters or any shooting Guard. From there, you draft a good starting Small Forward or Center and spend the massive cap space to grab a legit Center, and this becomes one hell of a team with a great starting lineup, a superstar closer, and surprising bench depth.

I usually ignore your bullshit, but you are just so ****ing reeruned. They are 3rd in the NBA in FG percentage, 1st in the NBA in 3 point shooting, 3 in the NBA in assists. Yes, they lead the NBA in free throw attempts, but I'm sure it has nothing to do with Westbrook, and Durant constantly going to the rim. Do they get some star calls here and there? Sure they do. Do they have some games where they get bad calls against them? Sure they do. Calls are going to go with and against you. Unless its a last second total bullshit call it usually doesn't have much to do with the outcome.

I called it just as weak when people were saying OKC lost the Finals because of calls last year. They lost because Miami played a better series, and mainly because Miami's role players had a better series, and LeBron went ape shit. People are biased whether they want to admit it or not. The Dallas fans calling Wade DWhistle then being silent when Dirk goes to the line a shit load of times on their title run is a good example. great players go to the line a lot. its pretty ****ing simple.

Maybe you're right though. Maybe the NBA wants one of the smallest TV markets to win it all, and **** the Largest TV market out of the playoffs.

BTW the last time you spewed this bullshit the Clippers went to the line more than OKC. Blake had 15 FT attempts next to Durant's 3.

If you are going to fixate on every ****ing call stop watching the NBA now. You just sound like a bitch..

I can't imagine rooting for a team "led" by DeMarcus Cousins. What a ruinous attitude the guy has. I'm watching the Kings/Jazz game. Cousins got bumped driving into the lane, but it wasn't a terrible no-call. Back down to the other end, he's still jawing at the official and gets T'd up. Kings make a really nice run to get back into it going into half. Cousins goes to speak to ref as everyone is going into the locker room. 2nd ref comes over (still doesn't seem like a volatile situation at this point), Keith Smart comes over to move DC into locker room, DC says something else and the other ref kicks him out. Probably killed any chance the Kings had to win the game, getting kicked out between halves. Just a first class idiot ---- after all the discussions about maturity and controlling temper he still hasn't a clue.

OKC gets the benefit of a lot of calls at home. But they should...it's the best home environment in the entire sport. If other NBA clubs had environments like that, they'd get the benefit of more calls too.

I'll take him on the Raptors if they want to move him. Would be entertaining to watch and he's an incredible talent (not to mention, he produces a ton as well). Colangelo isn't one to trade for the bad character guys, though, and I don't think going to a place like Toronto would change his attitude at all.

Cousins needs to end up somewhere with a disciplined roster full of veterans and a respected coach if he's ever going to be a good winning piece for somebody, I think. That might be what it needs for him to grow up.

Sometimes guys just are what they are. Look at Dwight Howard with the Lakers this year.

And often guys change based on their environments. Dwight is one of the few who seemingly can't, but maybe things will click in for him someday.

At Kentucky, for example, Cousins was far more disciplined than he is now under Calipari (Cal seems to have a knack for managing egos...in fact, it may be his best quality as a college HC) and led that team to a 35-3 record and a E8 appearance. Now that he's a pro on a terrible team with a rookie head coach, he's acting out because there are simply no consequences to his actions. He knows he's their best player/most important piece and he knows he's got his guaranteed money. They can't really do anything to him even if they wanted to...they don't want to damage his value both to them and throughout the league.

Put him in a situation where his PT is on the line in a place where winning actually matters with some respected players/coaches and I think you'll find he might change. Of course, we may be years away from that happening.
