Holy cow. I never knew their was a Royals Planet. It is the funniest thing in the world, if not a bit disturbing.
Hootie apparently reads CP, but since he can't post here, he responds on Royals Planet. He's basically talking to himself about CP posts. It's like a lunatic raving in an asylum in a sound proof room. In his defense, it appears he got a bad rap on the fan duel matter. He never stole, he never played the CP lineups himself, he disclosed he was going to run some lineups on his own. Seems like people were mad at him for other things and used FD as a means to gather up support and run him out of town.

1. I think an important point of clarification is that Hootie never had control of the planeteers money, BRC did. Where things got in trouble was that Hootie was in charge of the first week lineups with three other CP members, the four of them changed three of the lineups as planned, but accidentally altered a fourth lineup without permission. With what I've heard on here, Hootie wasn't too apologetic about the mixup and accidentally altering that lineup (alienating some of the CP crew) - but it wasn't something that he did with malicious intent. The four planenteers in charge of the Week 1 lineups in FanDuel ended up losing half of CP's $5,000 investment for the season. Hootie didn't "run away" with the money, but it's more that those are sort of the breaks with services like FD. 3. Referring to the lineups, I believe the ethical gray area is that if you enter CP's lineups in a personal league, and if the lineups win money, you will win individual money that you'd be able to pocket without sharing it with the overall league. Since the idea that the CP lineups were developed with group input, the idea that Hootie would walk away with money of his own from the group's input didn't sit well with some people. Hootie was also adamant in the beginning that no one participate in individual leagues with the group's lineups for this very reason - and this blatant hypocrisy on this position didn't sit well with the community. From Hootie's end, he points out that he never played the individual lineups after hearing the uproar from the rest of the CP group. The CP group points out that this uproar was caused when he dragged the conversation on FD into a thread on the main forum (another violation of the rules). TimBone also points out that the only reason he didn't play his personal lineups were because he was banned before he had the chance to play them. Hootie may have a different view on the last point. Something undeniable was that Hootie's involvement was spun by a few on here as 1. stealing CP's money, or 2. Commandeering the FD group and causing everyone to lose their investments. It at least appears like these explanations were disingenuous at best. It doesn't make Hootie a white knight, as he made quite a ****storm about FD on the main forum, but it adds more nuance to the story. Hootie has long beaten the drum to make the FD forum public so we could determine how everything went down rather than relying on second hand info, but it's been so long that I doubt that happens at this point. Everything else looks pretty accurate from what I've read from both sides, though. Last edited by Chiefspants; 01-06-2017 at 06:56 PM.. |

Hootie had no ill intentions with the FanDuel situation. However, he is absolutely awful at working with others.

Had he seen the hypocrisy of wanting to play his free rolls after he was the one that created the rule in the first place, there might not have been a huge blow up. |

I think there was definitely some of that. He and crazycoffey certainly have a history, and there was a thread in the fanduel forum one night where crazycoffey was giving him a super hard time, and hootie was actually trying drop the subject. I believe that's drama played a major part into the whole thing blowing up.

Sure. That software is clearly buggy. Right now, on the main page I see the latest post being from TimBone this morning, but if I click into the forum it doesn't show any new posts today at all. No clue what that's all about, but don't care enough to dig into it. My guess is it's just bugs that haven't been worked out (which is why CP has never migrated).
