Your son probably knows what he wants, and has a good reason for requesting it rather than a PS3.

Other than ONE post on Friday (and MY reply to it) BRC's post is the first one since the 28th. Two days longer ago than the PS3 thread's last posting.

Yes, he plays Runescape online all the time. Usually only when he has his buddies over does he play on the X-box console.

After hearing the input here he probably knows that the 360 is better for online gaming and thats what he likes to do. So I would take that back to your marketing guys. 16 year olds care about online gaming more than the console. Or at least this one does.

I personally don't really care about Blue-Ray right now. I've got my big screen HDTV using digital cable. Movies look pretty good to me as of right now and soon as the price comes down and more selection becomes available I'm sure I'll covert over.

He use to have Playstation 2 but wanted the X-Box when it came out.

Yeah, the only drawback to playing online is that it costs $50 a year. But that's not really that big of a deal, or at least I don't think so.

Yeah, and the online gaming aspect is critical. Not to say the PS3 doesn't offer online gaming, it's just not nearly as advanced as LIVE is at this point. Hence the fee.

They are both good machines. For me, the PS3 was the better decision. That doesn't mean that the 360 isn't a good decision either. Your best bet is to talk with your son about what is the most important to him as well as go over the benefits of both systems. Maybe have him check how many of his friends have a PS3 since you already know he has friends with a 360.

I agree that the 360 is the better online engine. I would go back if they ever eliminate the need to pay for EVERY SINGLE profile. EVERY DAMN YEAR.

I'd imagine his son would be the only one playing it, since he said he isn't much of a gamer.

I know that I had a 360 from launch, so it didn't really matter to me what my friends had, but if I were buying a system right now; that would most definitely be an enormous factor in my decision.

I like playing with random folks and people I meet online well enough, but playing with your real friends trumps that. I'd be willing to guess that about 12-15 of my friends game a little bit and own consoles.

Only two of us, myself included, own a PS3 currently. My other buddy had one, but got pissed when he found out they weren't releasing Ninja Gaiden 2 on the PS3 and sold it. Plus, he's a huge arcade games guy, so he missed that aspect as well. He strayed from the 360, but it's magical power drew him back in. And he loved the first Fable, and was pretty amped for Fable 2.
