More from /film, this time on the animated side of things :http://www.slashfilm.com/new-star-wa...s/#more-266023

Quote:
Rumor has it that Disney and Lucasfilm are planning to do “about” three or four seasons of Star Wars Rebels before starting a whole new Star Wars animated series, with all new characters, set in the timeline of the current movies (the Star Wars sequel trilogy).

Since this is so early, there aren’t a lot of specific details. The new cartoon series will be set during the Sequel Trilogy timeline (Episodes VII and beyond), which will be very familiar to fans by that time. If Rebels does go three or four seasons, the new show would hypothetically start in 2017 or 2018, around the same time we’ll see Star Wars Episode VIII. That means we’ll have at least one, possibly two movies of world building in which to set up a new story and set of characters.

Jeremy Bulloch will be 70+ by then, but I'd still go for it.

I pretty sure the reason why they'd kill him off and replace would be to cast a well known actor as Boba Fett in order to carry one or more movies.

Yeah, they won't do fan service on that one, at least not for the gareth edwards movie. That's a money role.

Although...it's possible he could crawl out of the sarlaac post ep 6 and have some role in the new trilogy, which would make Bulloch's current age appropriate. But aside from fanboy nutjobs (like us) who would even know who he is?

Speaking of edwards' movie, I just dug this up, which could fit the story you told: http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Boba-...ace-43715.html

And it wasn't even Bulloch's voice, so I'd be shocked if he appeared in any post-Episode 6 films.

Yeah, maybe. I mean, I'm getting some information from time to time but I have no idea if it's real or fake info that's purposely being leaked. It's kind of surprising because when Abrams took over, he said there wasn't going to be a lot of secrecy.

Turns out, secrecy.

I can see that but it would next to impossible to have a late 20's/early 30's character portrayed by a 70 year old.

I'm of the mindset that I couldn't care less who is cast in any role, as long as the film itself is good-to-great.

That said, anyone would have been better than Christensen in the prequels.

I read his comment as more along the lines of there would still be secrecy, but they wouldn't mislead people like they tried to with khan:
Quote:
“We were trying to preserve the unexpected for the audience, but it came across as if we were trying to be too clever… Star Wars is in every way a different animal. It’s always been a more open, fan-engaged universe than I’ve been used to, so I’m sure there’ll be some sort of compromise. But it feels to me like there’s a purity in not knowing every little thing.”

“We’re living in a moment of instant information and a sense of entitlement to that information… But I think it’s nice to remember that there’s nothing wrong with a sense of anticipation.”

I'll admit I almost thought this was genuine, up until Chewie makes an appearance. And the TIE pilot with a lightsaber. Not bad for fan made, though...

Speaking of Fett escaping the sarlaac, someone wrote a book detailing his escape and survival. I can't exactly remember the name but it might have been in the takes from mos eisley collection. It was a good read and would make a good part of the movie.

I think they changed gears somewhat, as Kathy said this last year:

Quote:
“I think the whole issue of confidentiality is gonna be fascinating as we move into making the movie. If we’re shooting anything outside, it’s almost impossible to not have things end up on the Internet. So my feeling is, you need to embrace that, especially with the fans around something like Star Wars. You need to recognize they’re important to the process and acknowledge there are things you’re gonna want to make sure they get to know. So I think that’s something we’re going to monitor, pay attention to and think differently about.”

All of the EU is out the door.

Only the new movies, new comics, books and of course, the movies, are canon.
