Ok, now for the GOOD of the Smith trade...

Not to say there is a ton of good but let's try and point out some goodness from it since it is a done deal...

1. It means Cassel is gone....
2. We have a QB who actually has experience in college and more than part of 1 season in the pro's for the first time since?????
3. We still hold our #1 pick and could still pick up a QB in the draft
4. Smith is a viable backup should #3 come about

Ok, well that's all I got .....

Seemed to do plenty well as his yards per attempt was one of the highest in the NFL. The notion that he can't get the ball down the field is absurd, you should ask Vernon Davis about his ability to get the ball down the field.

Quote:
That is just flat out wrong. Senior QBs putting up video game numbers in in a BCS conference with ridiculus TD:INT ratios and 70% completion percentages don't just fall to the 2nd round because the media idiots say so and they are too stupid to stop comparing this year's QBs to Luck and RG3.

Its not the media that is setting the value for these players. You have scouts and personnel people all across this league holding their noses at this mediocre QB class. Geno Smith is a system player that needs to further develop to start at the next level, he's not an out of the box QB, he's someone who will take time and should start off on the bench, watching. Put him in right away and he'll implode and have the bust label put upon him in 2 years or less.

He's the best QB in a very very weak QB class, being #1 of a lousy bunch doesn't mean you have #1 pick value, or even 1st round value.

Once again, if Reid thought he was worth a damn, he wouldn't have traded for Alex Smith.

Stop letting fantasies of watching guys like Kaepernick and Newton color your view of Smith, that somehow he'll be just like those guys. He isn't, and he won't, he's a potentially good QB that needs time to acclimate and develop before becoming a full starter.

Perhaps you haven't seen this:
Quote:
Matt Cassel's career stats as of today: 58% completion, 6.6 yards/pass, 173 yards/game, 82 TD to 57 INT, 160 sacks, and 24 40+ yard plays.

Alex Smith's career stats as of today: 59% completion, 6.6 yards/pass, 178 yards/game, 81 TD to 63 INT, 196 sacks, and 33 40+ yard plays.
[/quote]

Compare their last 2 1/2 seasons of performance and then get back to me. Alex Smith was drafted #1 and then thrown into the starting lineup on a team with no OL, no WR's and no running game. He had two clueless head coaches and a new offensive coordinator every single year for years on end. What is relevant is that this is a guy who was ranked 3rd in the NFL in QB rating and had a 70% completion rate before he went down with a concussion. Matt Cassel hasn't put up numbers like that in his dreams.

Look you dick eating maggot....we as chiefs fans already know that THIS YEAR we aren't winning the Superbowl. We don't give a flying **** about finishing second. You dumb mother****er, we want a chance to be a playoff contender for 10 years in a row with a franchise QB. You dont get that chance by giving away the 34th pick and trading for someone else's sloppy seconds.

go back to the 9ers boards, you loose sphinctered bundle of sticks hag

I'm not trying to bait anyone. I'm not even saying anything against anyone who thinks it's a bad trade either. If you actually read my post, I said I'm not a fan of the trade either.

What I am saying is it's dumb to overreact and say you're bailing on the team, unless of course you really mean it. I'm also saying if you publicly state that you are "done" with the team, be prepared to eat some crow if it turns out Reid/Dorsey actually are smarter than you and you try to come back.

We're in win-now mode since our QB is oldish.

A lot of people are going to be eating a lot of crow. It'll be fun to watch people crawl back after this implosion too. This team has needed a guy just like Alex, a very smart, celebral QB, a playmaker that doesn't turn the ball over, combine that with a strong running game and defense and this team will be knocking on the door of the playoffs fairly soon.

Thats pretty ****ing funny that you call me a pillowbiter. You live in NORTH CALI you douche. i live in wisconsin. Who is more likely to be taking up the ender parts? not this guy. Second. was any player you were going to get at 34, going to have more impact on this season than alex smith? NOOOOOOOO. Draft picks arent always the end all be all. The chiefs have a lot of talent. They need coaching. and i mean, finishing AT LEAST SECOND, could leave you in line for a wild card spot. going from the first pick in the draft to the playoffs, is a pretty big deal. Not many teams go from the first pick in the draft to the super bowl in one season. so, sit back in the corner corky. come back when you are ready to play with the big boys. Until then, off my nuts.

Such a smart and celebral(LOL) playmaker that he got benched and traded away by the team that signed him 1st overall. How exciting........

Don't misunderstand me. I can appreciate your opinion, but I'm not convinced the trade for Alex Smith is a good one. All I'm saying is I'll reserve my judgement until it plays itself out. I'm certainly not going to overreact and tell everyone I'm finding a new team. We haven't even reached the first preseason game of the Reid/Dorsey regime yet.
