Lonewolf Ed was given some bad news recently. While he is going to be busy kicking some butt, I thought this would be a good chance for us to get to know more about our friend.

We are mostly an anonymous group of strangers, for the most part, but sometimes its nice to humanize this place and get some value out of these relationships.

So ask away! Let's get to know his views on life, his funny stories, his firsts, his favorites... there are no rules, except for the ones he makes.

Yeah, for anyone reading this, blood or mucous in the stool should always send you straight to the doctor. Doesn't mean it's cancer, could be any number of things, but sometimes cancer is asymptomatic until it's advanced.

The screening guidelines for colorectal cancer are to have a fecal occult blood card done every year (your primary care doc can give you this), sigmoidoscopy every 5 years, colonoscopy every 10 years starting at age 50, or 35 if you are in a high risk group.

High risk would be any inflammatory bowel diseas like crohn's or ulcerative colitis, or any family history of colorectal cancer or colon polyps. There are some inherited conditions or ethnic groups (AA, descent from certain Jewish populations) that would make you high risk too. Screening is important.

Some cancer, yes, but not colon. My uncle died of colon cancer, but he was not a blood relation; he was my mom's brother-in-law.

My favorite Chiefs memory is the Monday Night game, Montana and Elway. Watching it still gives me chills.

My biggest regret is the thought that my parents will have to bury me. I lost my best friend when I was not yet 13 and saw the devastation that caused his family. My mom is 92 and my dad is 86. I don't know how long they can manage if I am not here.
