That's where all research is pointing. What's a reasonable cost to replace a frame? I'm not sure I'm willing to go much above $1k. Just finding a hard time to find a truck that simple and tough.

If you can do the work yourself you can weld in straps where the frame is rotted, usually right where the bend is for the wheel arches, then POR 15 the whole frame.

I need something I can take on back roads to fly fishing and mountain biking spots without having to worry getting a scratch or dent. I have a wife that doesn't take very kindly to beating the snot out of $30 investments. I really don't mind it however.

My garage is built for working on mountain bikes and not much else besides an oil change. Not an option unfortunately. Not really sure I'm the guy to be removing frames.

Man otter, you're kinda hosed brother. If it was like a little S10 or a smaller car, it wouldn't be so bad.

Negatory.
If it were me I'd take it to a semi shop and see if they are hungry. They're most likely to say they won't do it, but they can patch it up. I'm doing frame work never. Ever. |

Unfortunately this is a common problem with Toyotas. The ones that are strictly street driven seem to do ok but if they’re used for their intended purpose then water and sediment will get inside the frame and eat it away from the inside out. If you’re just seeing holes poking through you’re probably not seeing the whole problem. Yet.
This is exactly what happened to Gearhead Wrenching buddy’s Yota. It was a capable little off-roader until the rear leaf spring eyelet let go taking a chunk of frame with it. Got to looking at the frame on the other side and it was paper thin, just about to let go also. We had dreams of back halfing it with four links and some coil over shocks, until we found the front half of the frame in the same spot, right at the bend for the wheel arches, was about to let go too. He ended up parting out what he could sell and chopping up the rest to sell for scrap.
