Hire a lawyer and they can usually get it reduced to a non-moving violation.

Cost money though

Lawyer fee + double the approx fine

I don't know if they do this everywhere, but here you can take a stupid driving class to get a ticket dismissed, but it's only marginally cheaper than paying the ticket. No points on your license and no insurances issues though.

talk to the prosecuter before when you go to court. Tell them you'd like to plea it down to defective equipt. Also take cash with you to pay the fine and let them know you would be paying the defective equipt. fine that day. If they don't want to deal then tell them you're going to have to get an attorney and ask for another court date. Most of them will work with you.
You might as well try it on your own first before paying for an attorney. No harm no foul.
