Movies

Yeah, so I saw a lot of movies this weekend.

Elizabeth: The Golden Age - Mediocre, at best. Slow and dragged on. Shorten it to 2 hours and it's golden. It's not, so it fails.

Michael Clayton - Amazing. Everything about it is awesome. However, it's VERY complex and mind bending. You have to think, so be prepared. I still feel like I'm missing key details of exactly what happened. Gotta see it again.

Across the Universe - Perfect is one word that comes to mind. It just works. And, contrary to many people I bet, the movie is best viewed sober. Trust me.

I couldn't finish 8mm. It was a hell of a long time ago, but I hated it.

I thought 8mm was pretty good. It's been a long time since I saw it, but I think it seemed fairly intense and shocking at the time to me. Kind of like when I first watched the movie Romper Stomper although not nearly to the same degree.

Loved The Warriors when it came out. I wonder if it would seem pretty dated and a little silly now though. How did it strike you when you re-watched it and has it been a long time since you last saw it?

Well I'm still in my 20's, so The Warriors has always been dated to me. For me, it's more a camp/cult classic, but I'm drawn to those kinds of films. It had been probably 18 months since I'd last seen it, but I do feel like I enjoy it more with repeated viewings

I hear ya. I was in high school when it came out in 1979 and saw it then. It seemed pretty awesome to the 16 yo me. Saw it again when in college when a local group (St. Pat's board in Rolla) put it on in a local theater as a fundraiser and had a great time because it was a big party. I'm not sure I've seen it since then.

The Warriors sort of had a comeback with the 20something set about 5 or 6 years ago when the XBOX game became big.

While its dated and somewhat cheesy, its still got a really cool vibe about it. Definately unique.

I honestly think it'd be an awesome group Halloween costume. I never played the game, I first heard about it through Bill Simmons, who used to reference it often.

I watched a documentary called "The One Percent" over the weekend. Pretty interesting.
basically a documentary that talks about the mega-rich; I think the main dude in the documentary is the great grand grandson of one of founders of Johnson & Johnson.
he interviews other lucky SOBs to be born into mega $$; like the grandaugher of Warren Buffet and how he's cut her off/out etc.

Rented a Blue Chip Turd of movie last night called Skyline, what a bunch of rehashed garbage, turned it off before it was over.

The aliens were complete ripoffs of the new War of the Worlds, the story, action & dialogue were pure nonsense.

Nope, those highly advanced beings & their amazing technology just cant see you hiding behind the kitchen counter.

I'd never heard of it before going, but we went to "The Lincoln Lawyer" this weekend. Great flick.

I am with you right there. I cant figure out if it is a hoax or not. I definitely do not have any more respect for "street art" since watching it. I just cant figure it out what to make of it.

"The Warrior's Way" got shitty reviews, but I enjoyed the hell out of it. Haven't had that much fun watching an over-the-top silly ass movie since "Shoot 'Em Up".

I just saw Dirty Dancing for the 1st time. This movie is one of the sexiest movies ever made, without nudity. I know a lot of people see it as a guilty pleasure, but I think it is just a really good movie. Although i once had an argument with a girl who insisted this is better than Footloose, which i didn't know but maybe it is. The soundtrack is excellent, including She's like the Wind-sung by Patrick Swayze! It is a wonderful story of Baby's coming of age, and awakening sexually. What 18 year old girl seeing this did not wish she was Baby to Patrick Swayze's character. Nobody Puts Baby in a Corner is a very cheesy line, but he was standing up for her because earlier she had stood by him. What else can I say: They had the time of my(their) life!
